[BUG?]Permanent malus never fades

Post by KaiFiebach »

I have the problem that after two crashes of the Gemini capsule it seems to be impossible to master that mission again. Every time I research up to 90% and try the mission again, the capsule still gets a malus of -30% and the mission will crash. I even tried reloading several times (I usually don't do this) for researching some more seasons, but it does not matter how many additional seasons I research, the constant -30% malus lets all missions fail.

I see several problems here:
1. The malus seems to be permanent
2. The player cannot reduce the malus via research or training
3. The player does not even see the malus
So for each Gemini mission, the player sees great values ahead, but in fact the missions are always doomed from the beginning. Only when the missions starts, the -30% malus will show. In fact, this is Game Over, because the player cannot fix the situation. Or am I doing something terribly wrong?

Some missions require that other previous missions be performed, or one will suffer a penalty. For example trying an orbital gemini flight, without doing an unscrewed gemini first. Can you double-check if that isn't the issue here?

Thanks, double checking I now located the problem. It is an interface bug:
The interface marks mission as "safe" even though they are doomed from the beginning.
When you open the attached savegame of the first post, you find this:

1.When you then open the Gemini "Docking" mission, you see that the average mission components reliability given is 91%. This number is wrong. It does not include the -30% malus.

2. Also when you click on the advisor, he says "I believe it's safe to launch this mission". This information is also wrong. This mission will always fail, no matter how many more seasons you research.

3. You do not see in this mission window that there is a reliability penalization and why.
So in this mission window you have no clue that the mission is doomed.

In the end, I finally figured out that by clicking on the (i)nfo button on the left side, one can open a "Macro diagram". Here finally a reason for reliability penalization is given: The "orbital rendezvous with a crewed vehicle" has been unachieved." This vital information is missing on the main mission page.

Therefore, to avoid confusion, IMHO three vital fixes are required.

1. The "MISSION SUMMARY" should show active penalizations and reasons.
2. The "average mission components reliability" should take maluses into account.
3. The advisor should give useful info, taking unachieved goals and maluses into account.

Ok, so it was a case of "previous key missions not being performed." So its not a bug, but it is however a very serious UI ambiguity case. I agree - the malus for "unacheived missions" is not well enough communicated to the player, the advisor part is especially jarring. I will certainly pass your suggestions to the devs.
