Can't Wait - Day One Purchase

Post by philstat »

300+ units in the WH Universe, count me in, I can't wait for this game. Looking forward to hearing more about the factions and seeing some additional screenshots. I'm really hoping you are going to have Necrons and Eldars.

Well the first series of games is about the 2nd Battle for Armageddon, battles for Armageddon Prime and Secundus, so we start with Imperial Guard, Space Marines and Orks... who knows how far this series goes, but we have no Eldars or Necrons in this conflict.

Indeed, having played the board game to death back in the early 90's (or was it late 80's?) i am also excited for the release of this game.

My only bugbear is that all GW licenced pc games focus on taking control of Imperial Guard/Space Marine. How i would love to be able to command one of the other races!

That is also my point of view. Playing different races with different flavors would be nice. As an example, on the tabletop, playing orks, eldars, Space Marine or Tyranids was so much different...

I'm guessing that GW licensing may deliberately do it that way so that the tabletop game doesn't become redundant. If they allowed all the races in the pc game, then people would stop buying the mini's and just play online instead. Still, i'm stoked about Slitherine making this game and I think they are a good fit for it too, as they did a great job with Panzer Corps, which is fairly similar in some respects.

In the original board game of Armageddon, you could only control Imperial Guard or Orcs. No other races were included. But i do hope that GW allows them to expand to other races in the future with additional campaigns, etc.

There was a boxed Chaos expansion for the original Armageddon, which as well as including loads of new Chaos units and rules, included extra Ork Clans and units - even a few Genestealer counters, if memory serves me correctly. :)

No, the the chaos unit were too slow. They could not reach the production center fast enough and would ultimatly lose. With the cult of spead the result was the opposite, the production center fell fast and the imperial could be easily defeated. Strength is in speed! (not in slow heavy units). As far as I reamind, battle of armaggeddon is plan barbarossa and the chaos expension is more like the russian campaign of napoleon. Anyway They were good game.

Any way, yes, we need all the major race in the game editor at least : Imperium, Eldar, Orks, Tyranid, Chaos. I am an old player, I didn't catch with the new race, I think they were not needed on a background basis. I would have prefer they describe some of the race that exist in the original background like the Slann.
