iPad - what about iMac?
Will Panzer Corps be available for iMac systems as well?
I currently own it on PC….but curious if it will come out for the Apple iMacs.
Thanks for any info!

I can't answer your question, but I'm playing it on a Mac using Virtualbox. Luckily, that works out rather well, as the game itself is not very demanding on system power.

There are no immediate plans for a Mac release.brdrumz wrote:Will Panzer Corps be available for iMac systems as well?

That's unfortunate. I had been looking forward to that as well. But at least I have a way (iPad) to at last enjoy the game now, so I'm not going to complain too loudly.Rudankort wrote:There are no immediate plans for a Mac release.brdrumz wrote:Will Panzer Corps be available for iMac systems as well?
Alas, that only works if you have a non-OEM copy of Windows to install in a VM. This particular Mac user, at least, has made it a point not to spend any more money on Windows stuff (and especially not the woefully overpriced OS).smashtheaxis wrote:I can't answer your question, but I'm playing it on a Mac using Virtualbox. Re: iPad - what about iMac?
IMHO 85 Euros aren't overpriced !?

Re: iPad - what about iMac?
Compared to the price of Mac OS X upgrades (even before the last version which is free), Windows is indeed quite expensive. And I have never hesitated to spend that much money on something I will like (I mean, I buy Macs for goodness sake), but the price of Windows is far too much money to spend on something I loathe and would have had to force myself to tolerate having on my computer for the sake of one game. There's a reason that I passed on Panzer Corps until now, when it at last came out for a platform I am willing to invest in … and if PzC had remained a Windows-only game permanently, I simply would have never played it because I won't spent any more money on Windows, period.huertgenwald wrote:IMHO 85 Euros aren't overpriced !?
Thank goodness Slitherine saw fit to port it to one of the platforms I choose to use. And speaking of which, excuse me while I go and click on that PzC "give me everything" button that I have been intending to click on my iPad this weekend. See, I do spend money on things I like!

Well, upgrade from Win 8 to Win 8.1 is free.
Re: iPad - what about iMac?
It's not really an upgrade .. its what service packs used to be before and they always was free ... tho some people claim windows 7 was in reality a service pack for vista but thats different topic.huertgenwald wrote:Well, upgrade from Win 8 to Win 8.1 is free.

Have the same issue about wanting this game on a Mac. Pretty much the only thing I miss about having switched to a Mac. Not real excited about buying Windows 8 and creating a partition for one game. Has anyone been able to get this to run with Wine? If so, thoughts?
Re: iPad - what about iMac?
One day, maybe... I would kill for this to get on my Mac

Windows is loosing its appeal, in the good old days when your PC kicked the bucket, you could always just install a new version of Windows over a corrupted old one as an update install and still get at all your old save files. I found out to my cost that with win7 onwards you can only do an update install from a working copy of the older operating system, not from the discs of the later version.
So if as happened to me if your win 7 professional system gives up the ghost, you cant save it yourself, even if you buy win 8, sure you can fresh install win 8 and reformat your hard drive but you cant use win 8 to fix the OS problem while keeping your data. To do that, if like me (this was a laptop) your system came with the OS preinstalled and no system discs, the only way to get your PC back working and keep your data is to somehow get your hands on the correct win7 discs (the win 7 home discs I had from my desktop install were no use as I needed professional) or pay someone with the correct discs to run fix.

Re: iPad - what about iMac?
You can always reinstall Windows 7 over an existing one. Windows will warn you if you want to do that but it allows you to do it. It will not fix the old version but instead move all the windows and user related files, including your data stored in your user directory, into a folder called Windows.old and install windows anew. Now after the installation you can copy all your files from the windows.old directory and recover them. It won't touch any other data on your hard drive. Yes you have to reinstall all the applications and programs you had again but at least your personal data is saved.
Backups are something you still should do of course. Better save then sorry and external hard drives costs close to nothing anymore.

Re: iPad - what about iMac?
I agree with win7 pro discs all is fine, you can install and get a windows old with all your data files in. The issue is you always used to be able to do the same thing if, the windows version you were installing was higher than the corrupted one, sadly with Win8 this no longer works. If your win7 OS is corrupted you cant fix it and get a windows.old using win8 discs, because the only way you can run the type of install you need to keep all your data, is from inside a working win7 OS.
That's the problem now, even if you buy the latest version of windows, if your old win OS corrupts, you cant save your data unless you have the discs for the old win OS. If its a laptop, nore likely than not you didn't get any OS discs so your screwed. The change puts your data at greater risk than it used to be so why did windows make it.

Re: iPad - what about iMac?
You can legally download Windows 7 DVDs and use them even with your OEM windows key for example from here.
I never tried to install windows 8 over windows 7 myself. Why should i do it? Windows 8 is a major pain in the ass in my humble opinion
but according to this Microsoft guide it is possible to install 8.1 over 7 and keeping at least your personal data. It won't keep your installed programs tho which is slightly annoying i agree but it's probably the cleaner way anyway. If i take my time to reinstall windows i may as well do it really clean instead of trying to fix some old data and inheriting half of the old problems doing so.

If you think Win 8 is a PITA, I think 7 is just as bad. Still am using XP (and don't give a damn that they cut support)

You are of course entitled to your opinion but i personally disagree. I think Windows 7 is a huge upgrade over XP. On XP i never got used to the new Luna design scheme and the task oriented windows. They was strange. I always turned both back to the classic settings. On Windows 7 they actually are designed in a way that it speeds up the workflow and feels useful. The Aero desktop looks quite nice as well if you select a proper theme, the default one is ugly i agree. It took me a few hours to get used to Windows 7 but now i don't want to miss it. Windows 8 on the other hand ... every time i have to use it it annoys me more and more. Forcing a bloody touch screen user interface to a desktop was probably the biggest brain fart Microsoft had ever and they had enough of them to be honest.BiteNibbleChomp wrote:If you think Win 8 is a PITA, I think 7 is just as bad.
