"out of range" when the game is finally ready to p

Post by asrn »

I'm using a Radeon X850 Series with two monitors.

I have an AMD ATX55 CPU

The first time I played the game, I set it for max graphical settings, and the game played fine. (Maybe I set the max range for 1600 x 1600 x 32? I don't recall what the max was.)

Upon recent examination, my monitor, a princeton Ultra 72 can go up to 2048 x 1536 x 32 resolution.

US version, received a sample copy directly from Strategy First as a part of their marketing efforts.

On my second attempt ot play the game, the full startup 'video' played it's full length a second time. (I wanted to skip these screen and go directly to the game. Esc basically popped me back to the Windows XP environment.) When I finally gave up (and after shutting off the second monitor so my cursor wouldn't "fly off" the screen) at the end of the introductory 'movies' I wound up getting an "Out Of Range" message from the monitor.

i.e. I can't play the game a second time as when it finally gets to the game, it says, "out of range" (red letters on a black screen).

The max resolution of the game is 1280x1024. The default is 1024x768.

Out of Range usually means the refresh rate against the resolution. The game doesn't (as far as I recall) try and set the refresh rate, but I will check.

I would suggest switching your monitor to 1024x768 to run the game, to see if that helps.

It is odd that the game has run fine once though.

Cheers

My screen is normally 1280x1024
screen refresh rate is already at 85 Hertz

How do I also skip the intro video that starts prior to the game?

Hitting esc should skip the video.

You might also try deleting the options.bin file which is in the install directory. That will make the game behave as if you were running it for the first time.
