Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
On my first playthrough through the grand campaign. On Fieldmarshall. Some hard scenarios were in there, but the end of GC41 really kicked my butt. But I like it. Despite having to restart several scenarios quite a few times, especially Vyazma, geez, I'm really learning a lot and am getting better. I still make stupid mistakes, but I'm learning what they are and how to avoid them. I just need to have more patience and think more about my moves, check the terrain more and, my biggest issues still, make sure my units and their artillery protection cannot be supressed in the wrong location. Really tough on field marshall and I already shiver when thinking of GC 42, but I am gonna continue on this difficulty
I guess I could play it on Rommel, since I'm already swimmin in prestige (about 22k aalthough I have an entire division of 16 ground units spare in my reserves, and full 12 air units (all 3 stars)). but I like the experience limit in Field marshall so I'm not going to switch to Rommel I guess. I might though, We'll see. Currently I think the added experience would actually make it easier, I think I could afford the 50% prestige cut for that. And even now my units are pretty much all scraping at the experience limit cap anyway, except for some ground units, of which most are still 3 stars though.

I might try Rommel for '42 or for some later playthrough
After all there's gonna be DLC West waiting and all those DLC East and even 39-41 had branches that I haven't seen yet
Gee so much to do still

I prefer Colonel!
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Has the difficulty level any influence on the allocation of heros? Playing at FM-level I have less heroes than at COL- or GEN-level: randomly or intentionally?
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
No, heros setet in the file gamerules.pzdat random between min max:
Code: Select all
...
Hero1KillsMin 50
Hero1KillsMax 100
Hero2KillsMin 101
Hero2KillsMax 200
Hero3KillsMin 201
Hero3KillsMax 500
...Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
There is no direct connection between difficulty and heroes. In fact, there are no other differences between levels, except those listed in the first post. Heroes depend on kills, and kills alone. Theoretically, on all levels above Colonel, where the AI gets more prestige, it can buy more units, and so you can score more kills. And of course, Manstein gives you even more points to kill, so you should get heroes faster - if you manage to keep your units alive.zappel wrote:Has the difficulty level any influence on the allocation of heros? Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
My votes for Manstein and Rommel are forward looking. Since I haven't beaten the game on FM, I haven't unlocked the advanced difficulties and all I've played so far is vanilla. In general, I find that the more challenging the game is, the longer it's fun to play.

Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
What are the main differences between level 2 and level 1 AIs?
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Some differences are simple (like level 2 will try to protect VH with up to 7 units, while level 1 only up to 5), some are very complicated (e. g. level 2 attempts to detect good defensive places on the map and place units there, not just defend cities). And it has become even more tricky as additional content was created. Thus, Grand Campaign gives much less freedom to the AI, and so these differences I've described above might never really show.dumbttt wrote:What are the main differences between level 2 and level 1 AIs?
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
I always play on Rommel. I like the far more realistic feeling of having to play with a more historical Core of units not being able to afford all Tiger 2s
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
This sounds good. It kind of annoys me when higher level AIs just spam units.Rudankort wrote:Some differences are simple (like level 2 will try to protect VH with up to 7 units, while level 1 only up to 5), some are very complicated (e. g. level 2 attempts to detect good defensive places on the map and place units there, not just defend cities). Hi commanders!
I'm brand new not only to the forum, but to PzC overall. I have a complete lame question and I apologize for that, but didn't find the answer on my own. So, is there a way to check what difficulty level I chose at the beggining of my campaign? I play Wehrmacht - 39'-45' scenario and just about to begin to roll out the Low Countries
But hte strange thing is, that my first try yesterday on Poland invasion ended catastrophic, as Poles completely crashed my troops. I'm completely sure that chose "Colonel" diff. lvl. Couple of hours later, I started a new game at the same campaign and I think (almost pretty sure) that chose "Colonel" again) and this time I devoured the enemy for 11 turns and achieve a DV. I don't think that I've become much more pro for those couple of hours, so I want to see if i chose the desired level of difficulty or I'm playing on the lowest level
Thanks in advance! Greetings!

Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Hi tynesider, with the latest patch you can switch your difficulty between scenarios in campaigns, there you can also check which difficulty you set.

Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Hi All,
I started with Panzer Corps (iPad) this Christmas. I've been playing Panzer General back in nineties and I am quite seasoned wargamer.
I started Grand campaign with Sergeant (easiest) and that was a mistake: It's not even a battle, it is a walkthrough.
I'll restart with Colonel, which is a default level, with no multipliers whatsoever.

Yes you are right Segeant difficulty mostly due to the -5 penalty to enemy troop strength is really only for total wargaming newcomers without any previous experience or for an waltzthrough to learn the layout of the scenarios. Colonel sounds like a good starting level imho.
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
I would actually suggest only the difficulty levels where the AI is allowed to play to the best of its abilities.
(The AI is not too strong, you see, and so I see no reason whatsoever to handicap it further)
Translated this means: I recommend at least the step up to General. Compared to Colonel it sets the AI to maximum ability. (And it gives the AI +50% prestige meaning it becomes more important to kill off enemy units or at the very least prevent them from freely repairing, which is only sound tactics you need to learn anyway)
Either that, or select Colonel, then switch over to the advanced difficult tab, check the custom difficult checkbox, and click AI level 2. That will give you settings identical to Colonel except for the AI level.

Molve, thanks. I'll check if this AI level can be adjusted in iPad version. I think that it is only fair that AI is given chance to do its best to resist my attack...
Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Anyone know where I can find the chart that says how the difficulty levels actually affect the game?

Re: Panzer Corps difficulty levels overview
Question, what is the difference and where can I find the settings except Field Marshal (ie Rommel, Guderian or Manstein)?
If you find mistakes may keep them or send to Google, the Google there are errors
