SPM v. 0.7.10 is now available

Post by Nacho84 »

Hello all,

The latest update for SPM is now available. Just like SPM v. 0.7.9, the new update is available for you to download directly from the Matrix FTP: ftp://beta.matrixgames.com . When prompted, please specify the following username and password: SPMBetaTester/SpmBeta1114.

Inside the FTP you will find a rar file, just download it and overwrite your current installation with its contents. Notice that you need to have your installation updated at least to SPM 0.7.8 first in order for it to work properly. If you didn't install the upgrade for 0.7.9 don't worry, since 0.7.10 already includes those changes. Please refer to this link which features a step-by-step guide on how to perform the patching process.

About the update itself, we have fixed several glitches reported at the forums, implemented some of your suggestions regarding usability and tuned some of the existing scripts. You can find the full changelog here.

Please, let us know what you think!

Cheers,

Hi,

I wonder if someone else is in the same situation, but I have an annoying problem :

- I re-installed BASPM from 0.7.0, and it ran perfectly.
- I tried to use the updater to get to v0.7.8, and there it failed, saying that "version number could not be found".
- I tried to directly apply v0.7.10 on v0.7.0, but as I expected, I got the "CRC error" message.

Maybe the updater is outdated (!) ?

Just curious, does BASPM writes things in the registry (like the version number...) ?

Hello there,

Applying 0.7.10 to 0.7.0 won't work. If you're having troubles in order to get 0.7.8 using the auto-updater, please grab it from here and install it manually.

I can't find the version number listed on the title screens anywhere. Do you have them listed somewhere in the game or am I missing something?
Thanks

Hello knightrun,

It's at the bottom of the screen in the main menu. It should read "Version 0.7.10 (Dec 20 2013)".

Please forgive this later arrival, but I would be most greatful, if you could explain where to put the unzipped 7.10 update in which fold of the SPM? Please.

No worries! Unzip the 0.7.10 update into a temporary folder in your desktop. That folder will then contain the game's executable (SPM-Windows.exe) plus another subfolder named "SPM-Windows_Data".

Now look for the installation directory of the game (should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\ or C:\Program FIles\Slitherine), cut the exe and the SPM-Windows_Data subfolder from your temporary folder lying in your desktop and paste them into the game's installation directory. Windows should prompt you about SPM-Windows.exe and the contents of the SPM-Windows_Data subfolder being replaced. Hit yes for both, since that's what we want :)

Hopefully you will be all sorted after this.

ok, Thanks lol, I'm older than dirt and should remember to put on my glasses!! I have also been trying to update the game to 7.10 and having a ton of problems. Tried all the suggestions in the forums, and won't update. So I'll wait until I can update it through the game menu.

Lost Game Screen

Post by cptbill911 »

After posting the update and restarting the program I select Play SPM. The BASM configuration screen comes next. After checking the selections I go to play and now met with a screen with two black lines-one at top and bottom and the center pink. Changing the resolution and quality has no effect upon and I cannot get past it to continue the game.

Hello Jamie,

Welcome to the forums! As I mentioned when the 0.7.9 version was released, Slitherine takes a break during the Christmas and resumes operations at the beginning of January. This is the only way I could keep providing patches every Friday without waiting for them to come back. Once they do, we're planning to resume with the normal workflow of updating the game using the auto-updater tool.

I'll post a visual guide during the day. Hopefully everything will become more clear. Apologies for the inconveniences.

Cheers,

Hello cptbill,

Please upload the output_log.txt logfile, it's under the SPM-Windows_Data subfolder.
