If you gain the extra 40 points and make it a small unit of dragoons, can it be placed in a cavalry division consisting of two light cavalry units (because of a restriction of having each type in its own division)? In other words, can the extra cavalry unit go into a division it normally could not be placed in?

Although it doesn't state it in the main rules, I would think that the general rule on divisions having to maintain the restrictions for each list would still be in place.

It would be a bit of gamesmanship to do what you're suggesting.

I agree. To the degree possible it must conform with all other divisional and list rules.
