UI Suggestions/questions

Post by FalconSMG »

Enjoying the game (playing on Mac). There are a few simple things that would enhance gameplay IMHO. If they already exist, someone please tell me!

Main Map:
1. Keyboard shortcut to home city. e.g. Home key. TAB key already cycles through your cities once one is selected
2. A key to cycle through active units
Workshop:
1. Save designs. When I design my Flamethrowers, it is really irritating to have to do so every single game. let me save the design and have it appear once research requirements met.
2. Upgrading to new weapon/armor. On discovery of new tech, it would be great to go to workshop, call up a list of all designs and be able to upgrade ALL of them to new armour in one click. Ideally, a pop up box with a list of designs (maybe filterable by type e.g. infantry) and a simple checkbox next to their name so you ca upgrade in bulk. This is less important if saves are implemented.
3. Simple thing -renaming currently you can only click at end of name and then backspace through. Double click to select whole name would save a lot of time when renaming.
City Screen:
1. City focus -select food, minerals, research etc so AI can place new pop appropriately.
Combat:
replay or some other way of reviewing at end of turn would be nice.

Other:
Some use for roads other than transport -eg trade, accelerate moving population.
Formers -build road to… or automate road building between cities.

That's all for now!

In city window, 'Pollution' should be shown even when negative/green, to help decide what to build (need to be cleaned soon or late??).

Comment on roads: strongly feel that units should follow the road unless directed otherwise [ie, CNTL-RT Click or whatever deemed appropriate]. Too many times units show up with degraded hit points that you'd rather not have. Not always a game breaker but none-the-less annoying.

Add the borders of your empire to the mini map like Civilization does!

This is really important to me, it's hard to see the expansion of empires just by the tiny coloured dots representing their cities.

- I'd like to see the borders on the minimap.
- I'd like to zoom out (much) more, like Supreme Commander actually...
- I'd like a filter to show the roads in a very visible way, like blinking red or something.
And more video setting options for my old computer (smoke, water effect, explosion, animation, stuff like that).

That's all for now, still very new to the game.

I would love option to disable "cloud filter" from top most zoom. It's distracting. And also lowers performance on lower end machines.
