Looking for Guide

Post by KJay »

Hey Guys,
Just signed up, so hello everybody.

I'm wondering if anybody has some clues of the game mechanics. I'm interested in how the influence of the alien-race works, related to player actions in particular. Anything else would also be nice. Neither do I understand how the growth and migration actual works. I'm looking for numbers and values, like a principle of what value causes which sort of effect. I assume every new founded settlement has a specific value to increase Alien-nativ behavior to hostile as well as the amount of units on the battlefield. Does science, exploration and ruin plunder increase the hostility of Aliens? Sometimes it feels that way.
Looking forward to improve my gameplay.

Thanks so far!

Most of the tricks and game mechanics came to me as I played my first few games.

The best way to think about the Aliens is that you need to tame this new planet in order for humans to inherit it. You will reach a very noticeable point when they are pretty much all gone and no longer influence the game. Clearing the hives is the key. This could all change in a future patch though.

Each city will have a given amount of base growth that is dependent on it's current size, not food. But on top of that base growth, each city will experience emigration or immigration depending on its morale compared to other cities that belong to you. This is nice because smaller cities have plenty of habitation and no pollution thus rendering them "high-morale" and boosting their growth. The current beta version (you can switch to beta version in the updater) provides city-specific taxes to help you directly affect the morale of cities.

I'm not sure what affects the hostility of aliens, but I recently played a LAN game with my brother and dad. It was clear that we got the "alien aggression imminent" notification at different times. When I was Solar Dynasty I got the notification before they did (that faction has a pollution penalty).
