6 Light Horse LH

Pretty close. The list only allows a maximum of 16 LH however.

Ok thanks will fix that.
Can I have LF archers ? Or just slings and javelins ?

I thought the new book was out , no wonder they gave me funny looks in the shop today.
Immortal Fire was out though.

Slings and javelins. Slings are good.

I did not think immortal fire was due out for another month yet??

That Brit army has an awful lot of useless medium foot and useless light horse.

Do you get the option to upgrade any of the medium foot to heavy foot?

If not get a LOT of terrain :)

MF Gauls routed an EIR army in the open?

I am guessing you got some good impact rolls and the Romans rolled terribly for their cohesion tests??

There are a few troop types I have a low opinion of so far...

MF is probably the biggest, at the same price HF are usually the better choise?
LF Javs are another (range is so short) - I also prefer slingers, good value for money.
Not keen on light spear cav unless it is all you can get, I prefer lancers.

The MF and LH are not useless !.
They are not easy to use but cost effective.

I won more games with my ancient spanish army than with any of my other armies (3 defeats out of 12 games)!

I have beaten 2 late republican roman and a Serb army with them.

MF and LH are indeed far from useless. I'd suggest that if you think so you've been using them in the wrong place and/or in the wrong way.

They're less "one brain cell" to use than most HF or knights, say, but have significant uses IMO.

Of course it can come down to personal preference and gaming style - some people like the straight up the guts with heavies approach, whilst others also like the more subtle approach of other troops.

I really like my Scutarii in my carthaginian army, but they don't seem to be much use. Haven't used enough terrain yet. Sure they will be better then.

If you want to read about how they beat the EIR search the forum for it as there is a report there.

Better of a few dice rolls but not really lucky. Porbably should have lost 2 BGs in taking the army down. Width, numbers, rear support, skimishers, generals all needed carfeul coordination.

The big + of MF is the 4MU move which can allow you to press the game forwards.

I would not mind reading that report. I looked in the AAR forum and could not find it. I am really bad at finsding things though :) Can you give me a clue as to a good word to search on?

I have not moved all the AAR's into the AAR forum. My guess is that the report of the British triumph is about a year ago in what is now the Rules forum.

And I have to admit that they beat my Mongols as well last year at Britcon...

I blame my loss on the fact that I failed to convince Simon to include a rule amendment that made all troops suffer a -1 in CT for Mongols within 15MUs.

Now when is a Mongol a Hun ... and when is he not a Hun, that is the question.

And as they always hovered around the flanks I always thought "huns on the next table" was much more realistic - and just as logical!!

Ok then , quick give me some tips before Friday so I can look like a FOG master :)
I guess I should grab as much rough ground as possible when setting up terrain ?

Aah the bluffers guide to ncient Britons...

Don't rush - make good use of all those skirmishers

GEt rear support behind your main strike and generals in with the big BGs

try to spread out a bit and drqaga the enmy apart

And yes go for max rough terrain
