To My Opponents

Post by Old_Warrior »

Guys - I am in the process of having to go back to using my older PC - the newer one (2009) just crashes too much. And sometimes right in the middle of a move ... or just after I finish it but before it uploads to the server! (UGH!!!)

So bear with me. I need to somehow get the installers burned to a DVD and then move them over to my older PC and install the game/modules. Yes, not much fun ...

So turns will be on hold until I can do this.

If someone at Slitherine knows that I can download my MATRIX FoG installers please PM me or respond here with instructions. I would much rather just download the game/modules again than mess around trying to copy the files to media (my newer PC likes to crash as I copying files to my USB flash drive - go figure). Yes, sounds like I was hit with a virus but my AV software is not finding any on the hard drive ...

'Bout ready to toss all machines in the Boise river so sick of them. Give me a Buck knife, a tent and a backpack/sleeping bag and off I go ... :D

Quick update:

Still having jitters using older PC - LOL I keep on expecting it to crash too at any moment! Just call me paranoid I guess but after months of this happening ... well you know ...

I cannot copy anything for the most part from my old PC as it just crashes the moment I try and move the file over to the USB flash drive. Also when I try to burn to CD rom. Frustrating? Understatement!

So I plan on installing XP on my new 1 TB drive and see if I can then get everything back up and running. Going to do this tomorrow or later on today.

Good news: was able to contact the folks the make Ultra Edit and they sent me a link to where I can find the installers as well as my serial code. Glad to be able to reinstall that program as it was a life saver.

Question: does anyone know if I start Windows in Safe Mode if I can expect to be able to burn a DVD without the system crashing? Does Safe Mode disable virus/malware attacks?

Just got my game back up and running on my older PC by installing it all over again using an install link. Thanks again, Paulo!

Have all of my games caught up again. Waiting on many moves! :) A good problem!
