New Kingdom Egyptians
Are NKE spearmen medium or Heavy Foot ? I have a mob of figures I am about to rebase and I would like to get it right first time!

In the Old/Middle Kingdom list we have separate elite close fighters with 2-handed eye-axe, and they are Medium or Heavy as you like, with heavy weapon. The troops with single handed eye-axe or club are treated as MF/HF swordsmen.johnpaul wrote:How about Axe-Men?
In the New Kingdom list we don't have separate battle groups of axemen. Here is an extract from the list notes explaining why:
Hand-to-hand weapons were not standardised within close-fighter units. We treat the mixture of hand axes, khopesh (sickle swords), mace-axes and spear-swords as equivalent to swords.
So how should I treat my New Kingdom "close fighters" (DBM definition sorry) - HF, Protected, Average, Drilled, Defensive Spear, Swordsmen ? or MF but otherwise the same ?
Should I re-base mace-axe men within the "spear/sword" units or as MF/HF(?), Protected, Drilled, Average, Heavy Weapon ?
I would like to get them based up and onto a table way before any lists come out and I don't want to rebase twice because of poor speculation on my part
Thanks
