Ironclad (Early Visigothic) 45/47 win v kmaher (Ptolemaic Successor) 34/34

Yet another narrow escape for me where lady luck has come to the rescue again. My success this season has featured a number of such examples.
All credit to kmaher who came so near to closing the gap which for much of the match was 10-15 points (thanks to my larger break total). Through over-confidence I closed too quickly negating the advantage of my more numerous light troops and his guys did some deadly work close up but the sprawling fight was so far flung that I managed to keep several fragmented units out of reach and he couldn't close up with his successful left flank units although did manage to loot my camp on the first attempt. Great game as have been several earlier ones where I didn't take the opportunity to comment. Thanks to all my opponents. One more match left to play.

Division C

lydianed (Gallic Early Lowlife) 25/45 bt Tullius (Early Lombard) 44/41

The gallic MF performed heroically by occupying some rough ground and taking on and beating a sizeable chunk of the Lombards cavalry. Following this they were able to push on, sack the Lombard camp and then catch the rest of the cavalry, meantimes engaged with the gallic HF, in the rear. The Lombard infantry stuck stubbornly to a hill well away from the battle and played no part in proceedings.

My last game of the division and of the league overall. Thanks to all my opponents. Can't wait for January...

I'll end up 6-3, and place somewhere between 2nd and 5th. I very much doubt I'll get the silver medal, but I might end up with the bronze, if I'm lucky. Much of the credit must go to the Aragonese army rather than its general; they're a superbly balanced force.

My biggest surprise in this league was the battle with Jonathan4290. Swedes are quite different from most other Medieval armies. I had forgotten how tough and dangerous they are, and Jonathan made excellent use of them.

My thanks to all opponents and the organisers. And congratulations to Eric for his dominance of the league. Fighting him is like fighting Germans in 1940 or French in 1805; you just know it's not going to end well!
