Stockport Pick'n'Mix 2013 December 14th&15th

Post by hammy »

My organisation is getting worse, I have told a number of people when the Pick'n'Mix will be but have not actually posted anything on any forums.
I will be running the Pick'n'Mix again this year, same location, same format slightly later date I am afraid. Once again this event will feature the only edible prizes on the tournament circuit as well as plenty of other prize support.

Venue: North West Gaming Centre - 1st Floor, Hallam Business Centre, Hallam Street, Stockport SK2 6PT
Date: 14th and/or 15th of December
Format: Two one day three game tournaments. Prizes for the winners each day and a prize for the overall winner for the weekend
Timetable: 9:00-9:30 registration, 9:30-12:00 game 1, 12:45-15:15 game 2, 15:30-18:00 game 3
Entry cost: £10 per person per day, juniors free
Periods:

FoG: 15mm Renaissance - one or both days depending on entries
FoG: 15mm Ancients - Both days Saturday, any army up to 1000AD, Sunday any army from 500AD, 650 points, 5' by 3' tables
DBMM: 15mm Ancients - 240 points - 4 by 3 tables Saturday - from 500 BC to 1000 AD; Sunday - from 500 AD to 1500 AD.
Flames of War: 1500 points, at least one day Late War, the other day will be either Early, Mid or Late depending on player preferences.
FoG: 25mm Ancients - 650 points, 6' by 3' tables
I would like to see if I can get SAGA or Bolt Action on board but that depends on entries.

Just thought if there are two days for FOG R could we have an early period ie no pistol armed cavalry and one day late period.

Themes would definitely be better, as long as they're sufficiently broad to make sure nobody gets excluded.

Any chance we have a rough idea of who are coming along, is there a chance people can post on here if they are entering at least then we'll have an idea if its viable.

Does anyone have any idea what may be running in FoG:R? Or are people just hoping something will happen if they turn up as Hammy isn't telling ...

If we know who's coming we can sort out themes for ourselves.

Whether I would want to make the trip would depend on what themes were on offer 8)

And just to elaborate, as the above is not entirely helpful, I would much prefer quite tight themes and am much less likely to travel for more open ones. So, for example, I'd probably be OK with themes such as "The ECW" or "The Italian Wars" which were limited to the armies that fought in those wars (more or less).

I would go with Both day's ECW or Italian Wars so you do not have to bring two armies with you as well :-)

I quite like the idea of different armies on the different days - taking 2 armies isn't really a problem 8)

I agree, I'd prefer 2 different themes. I'm happy with ECW and Italian Wars. Any opinon on which order?

No opinion here - if I were to make the trek up I'd be coming for 2 days gaming :)

To move this along would you like me to draw up possible lists of allowed armies for these?

Yes that would be good quite quickly as people need the chance to sort out their armies
