Black screen

Hi there I keep getting black screen after launch, I can hear the music in the background but...I got nothing i am running the latest Nvidia drivers and am now totally stumped

resolution is 1280x1024 + refresh is 60hertz

please help I've been looking forward to this game fer quite a while

Did you try restarting your PC? Could you try going into window mode (Alt+Enter)?

I have restarted a few times since install.... also just tried Alt+enter but that don't seem to do anything tried on quick start and launcher (minimised-max-and normal) just keeps loading black screen with music

have a new development i now can see(ish) the background broken up into lots of lines and repeating left to right flashing on/off on screen and when i take a screen shot and pasted into paint i get the background as normal (planet with menu ect.) so I'm thinking it may be the games native resolution or refresh.... I have had this sort of problem before on other games and was able to fix using the config.txt but cant find one here (maybe I'm looking in wrong place tho I would have thought it to be in the config folder!)....pls help

hi yeh i turned on vsynch and now im back to plain black screen.... its a shame you guys didnt include an ini file in the config folder so i could play around with the settings outside the game ie.refresh + resolution(this is how ive solved this sort of problem in some other games) but any more ideas would be most helpfull cause im realy stuck fer anything now

There's a xml file where you can edit some of the config settings.
I haven't found any setting for controlling the refresh rate. Maybe the refresh rate it's hardcoded, but only the developers can tell for sure.
Anyway, that config file controls resolution amongst other settings.
It might be interesting for you to check if you still have the same issues in windowed mode.
To change to windowed mode you'll have to edit that file and find a line "<entry name="DisplayMode" value="0"/>" and changed the value from 0 to 1.
0=Full screen
1=Windowed mode
2=Windowed Full screen mode

The file question is "Pandora.xml" and can be found in:

Windows Vista/7:
“C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Config”
Windows XP:
“C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Proxy Studios\Pandora\Config”
Mac OS X:
“/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Proxy Studios/Pandora/Config”
Linux:
“/home/<user>/.config/Proxy Studios/Pandora/Config”

I use Notepad++ to edit xml files.

The refresh rate is taken from the desktop refresh rate. There currently is no setting for it.

If you managed to fix it, it would be awesome if you could share it with the rest. Perhaps there's something we can do in an update or maybe someone else stumbles on similar issues and your solution helps them.

Hi guys,

I've just gotten the game and this seems to be happening to me as well, any window like the Events page and information about the faction come up but the actual world doesn't display.
I've just finished installing the update to 1.01 and have tried playing it in both window and full screen with now apparent difference.

Are there any other suggestions or work arounds for this issue?

This is happening to me too. Everything workds except I dont see the world tiles or any graphics in the unit or research windows.

Im running a laptop with an HD4570 card and Im a bit worried that this is slightly old, although it does support OpenGL2.0 and I play Civ 4 & 5 quite happily with it.

These are two fully seperate issues.

The one solestus describes is a CRT (possibly refresh rate) issue where the whole screen goes black. Sounds similar to http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3469053.

The ones TractorBoy and sparky42 are experiencing is the de-facto outdated drivers issue, please update your graphics drivers. If you continue having issues after getting 2013 drivers, please open a new thread some tech support can advise you seperately.

Thanks. I recognised my drivers are out of date and I wasn't going to post anything until tomorrow when I can download them (my internet connection is ropey where I am and its a large download) - just posted it as someone else had exactly my issue. Will advise tomorrow on my progress!

....so I've played around with the settings and still cant get full screen but I can get it working fine in Windowed / Windowed Full screen mode , would be nice to be able to set the refresh rate tho

We'll try to fix it in an update and in the worst case provide a refresh rate setting.

One question: What refresh rates does windows allow you to set your monitor to and which one are you using?
