Ok, one unit was ready from sometime ago, and now its making a surprise attack!
The switchable StuG IIIG in Early and Late versions!
The concept behind this unit being made switchable is to give a range of 1 when switched to artillery, so it can provide covering fire to adjacent units when under enemy attack. This would be specially useful for infantry units caught in the open by enemy tanks. As was the case in the real battles, the StuG units acted as anti-tank support units for infantry formations.

So, here is this series of icons, carefully crafted by Asuser, who paid extraordinary attention to details. You will see the detail level that we all now are accustomed to... :-)

This pack will cover the more "vanilla game looking" icon style, later I will upload a more "pimped-up" version of the same vehicle, to give everyone more choices...

have fun!

Ok, the board quota is reached again...

A preview image (using tinypic):

So, here is a link for the download of the complete pack... Sorry, no previews are possible!

Ok, here is the link for the alternate StuG IIIG unit pack... A more "pimped" unit, with some schürtzen panels missing, revealing more of its running gear...Early and late versions, with AT and indirect fire modes. Credit to Asuser for sharing with all of us his work!! :-)
Enjoy!

My dear fellow icon modders! :)
Please could somebody make different SU-152 and ISU-152 icons (AT + Arty)? One could stay the vanilla which is more similar to the original. I don't need any other modifications (camo, texts, rings, etc.) just the different icon with vanilla green colour.
Thanks!

Asuser: Fortunately, Tinypic is working ok... It would be better still that I be able to upload files directly to the forum, because it is less clicks to be done... :-)
Thanks for the supporting words!

Uhu: As far as I could research, the icon used by the stock game shows a SU-152 (based on the KV-1 tank hull... You can see the two round hatches on the rear hull deck). The ISU-152 was based on the IS-2 tank hull and had a different arrangement of the engine cover deck and also its casemate was of different shape (similar, but not the same).

So, as we are now we have a good icon for the SU-152, in AT and Aty versions, which leaves us with a new project to add in the "to do" list... A good ISU-152 in AT and Aty modes! That would be also a good start for two interesting derivative units: ISU-122 and ISU-152-2 (an upgunned version of ISU-152 which replaced the 152mm howitzer with a long barrelled 152 mm gun, some prototypes were made before the war's end).

Ok, here is an all new ISU-152, with its correct features (mainly IS-2 based hull). Besides, being the good pupil I am, I added some "pimping" details to this new icon, in a similar fashion to the very good looking Asuser's style... A shovel is fixed to one side, and the tracks have some lag. Indeed, this running gear looks very good in my opinion, and so, I will re-make the IS-2 icon using it, but this is another story...

I did not like the idea of using the same icon for the SU-152 and ISU-152, because in real life, they were different units.

Uhu, this is an answer to your request, and also, because I think that Soviet armored vehicles are so cool...
I hope you like it, my friend! 8)

Well, now that I am using sendspace to upload things, I am also uploading a pack containing all the icons from "my" collection. This group will the base for the future "multipurpose" units mod, and includes all the icons made by Asuser and me, and also some other stuff collected here, for example Bebro's units, Flak's, Uhu's, and many more...
So if you want to be up-to-date or just want to download everything togheter, here is the real thing...

I will paste the download link in the first post of this thread also...

Wow, that a real surprise so fast it is already there! :)
Still to be honest: I appreciate your fast work this icon is not my taste - it's style is other as the vanilla style. But thanks and sure other gamers will like it!

Hello friends of Italian units,

here are the first of two unit packages of the Italian truck Fiat 626 as a troop transporter. The troop version is planned as a special vehicle for the elite units Battaglioni M and Decima MAS but can also used for normal troops. The original version was cleaned and reshaped with open and closed door window. Attached are also the basic and the mask icons:

I think it's the perfect addition to the Lancia from Guille so we have more variety to the transport section. The second part follow next...

...and here are the second part of the Fiat 626 as a AA Fla support with the famous 20 mm Breda Mod 35 and as a brigde layer support vehicle with storm or bridge support boats. Attached again also the basic and the mask icons:

If you like the version with closed door window more than make a call please, then I will update the last two versions again. Puh, lot of work, let's open a bottle of red wine or... better some cold beers... Ready to rumble with the Italian friends

Greetings!

These SU-ISU icons are indeed a bit messed up in PzC. There is a SU-152.png (for AT) and an ISU-152.png (for arty) file in the units folder used by both the multipurpose SU-152 AND ISU-152. Even these are not interchangeable perfectly as the red star changes its position after switching between the two modes. So I tried to sort them out.

I decided to leave this (corrected) pair of icons for the SU-152, and make a new one for the ISU-152 from the ISU-122 icon.

According to Wiki:
The design (ISU-122) shared the chassis of the ISU-152 self-propelled gun and differed only in armament, having an A-19S 121.92-mm gun as its main weapon instead of the ISU-152's ML-20S gun-howitzer.

So I simply copied the shorter gun of the vanilla SU-152/ISU-152 over the ISU-122 to get the correct ISU-152 (and of course corrected the shadow and its saturation a bit):

not a big change and these beasts are quite similar, but at least there is a different icon for each

Hello,

McGuba: Nice work, look like made from one steel block! I observe that also the IS-2 (Guille said it also?) could get some refreshment (chains, hull, barrel)?

To the Fiat 626 second pack: I observe a ugly effect if you camo the AA Fla Version. The gun barrel from the Breda is thin as a needle, but the DCS software is very generous with the colouring in that area. So I corrected the mask a little bit and made also a final cleaning besides the right icon of the bridge version: The updated basic/mask pack called (ud) and lays in the first post and also here:

Hello Uhu and Guille,

for me the angled bridges from Uhu look very good. Alternatively I looked for another style of bridges and found something:

Image

The rubber boat style is an original US type of heavy brigde for vehicles. The other is a more German style also for vehicles. So I have a question: Should we make:

a) Only Uhu style (here we could again think about to make the bridge a little bigger and set the soldiers on it)
b) Additional the new bridge styles for other nations
c) ?

Feedback welcome.

Greetings!

I've been asking for this for over two years.

A destroyed bridge icon. Place it in a position where it blocks enemy movement.

The problem with these angled bridges is that the AI cannot use them properly I guess.

The small rivers can be crossed nearly anywhere, but what about the big rivers, those pose really an obstacle. There's a nice possibility : the "beng" trait given to a ship and it works :-) so it is possible to go to the nearest port, buy a special unit, or go there with a special pontonier unit that would change into a boat (this can also be done on the static bridges, the thing is that you need to be on the water to switch to a naval unit), go to the place you need to cross, change into a real ponton bridge, and it's done.

The angle bridges are just for visual appeal and are only good if they are placed on a map at the start.

for example: If you place the dark bridge on the right above on the map, it would look funny during game play as the units will cross the river North to South and the bridge is horizontal going from East to West.

The AI can use the bridge if they own it.

The AI can use the bridges = it can pass the river. But it cannot place them correctly according to visual appeal.

Pictures to illustrate what I wrote before about the large rivers crossing :

Ok, back to the jet aircraft department...
Here you have the complete Me-262, in the regular camo assortment, and in various versions:

Me-262A-1a: Basic gun-armed fighter
Me-262A-1b: As A-1a but with the R4M rocket launchers under its wings
Me-262A-2a: Fighter bomber, with only two 30 mm guns, but with hardpoints for two 250kg bombs.
Me-262A-1/U4: Heavy fighter with a 50 mm gun
Me-262B-1a/U1: Twin seat night fighter, with A.I. radar.

Here's the link to download:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/imnm10

And some samples of what is inside the pack:

Enjoy!
