Flank attack question

When a BG charges another BG in the flank, can they choose which rank they hit, or does it have to be the front rank ?

My Danish Levy have HF front and MF rear rank, they were charged in the flank by some cavalry, and obviously if it was the front they have to contact, I can claim an extra die roll for support shooting.

I would say they hit what ever they contact

Seems right to me.

Although if they hit MF or HF is irrelevant as a flank charge is always at ++ and MF are not dissadvantaged in melee against mounted.

So if they hit the rear element ,no support dice but if the front I would assume the extra dice comes into play although would it be at --- ,flank charge and shooting at chargers

Even if you hit the front base in the flank there is no support shooting P92 definition of dice for support shooting.
