Re: Warfare 2013

Post by TimChild »

Hi guys,

The list deadline is fast approaching - 2 November. If you are in a position to let me have your list early, that would be great. I have 70 lists in total to check for all the FOG competitions (and with room for a couple more yet!) and so far I am waiting for the final 50. If everyone can help me out by getting your lists in early, we may to be able to get the R&R up that bit quicker.

Cheers,

Tim Child

For the Destrier and 25mm competitions, I am waiting for a reply from Nik Sharp (Destrier) to a problem with his list, and have had no list at all from Paul Westmore (25mm). I prefer to have all lists in and checked before I publish the R&R, to avoid any possible allegation of tweaking to match the published opposition (not that I am suggesting that either Nik or Paul would do such a thing!)

Warfare 2013 - Destrier Rides Again Runners and Riders

Post by TimChild »

Here you are, all you medievalists...

Pete Dalby Ilkhanid Mongol
Peter Card Early Teutonic Knights
David Fairhurst Later Anglo-Irish
Jon Akers Later Anglo-Irish
Robert Taylor Early Hungarian
Richard Case Early Anglo-Irish
Nik Sharp Early Hungarian
Dave Ruddock Feudal Catalan and Early Crown of Aragon
Paul Robinson Middle Plantagenet English
Phil Powell Early Anglo-Irish
David Morrison Nikephorian Byzantine
Duncan Thompson Mongol Invasion

"Only" two Hungarians, matched by a pair of Mongols. Four Anglo-Irish, albeit in two basic flavours.

Personally I think it's wide open but I would never bet against Mr Ruddock - anyone who can beat Swiss frontally with Knights clearly has excellent dice. And I suspect his list has lots of Knights in it.

Given my lowly standing in the rankings I will be happy if I can finish in the top half of the table.

I must thank Monsewer Dalby for his vote of confidence, but I'm afraid my dice have been getting me back ever since (seemingly) infamous game against the Swiss.

However, I am happy with my army choice and it worked so well against Early Hungarians that after three (completely) different versions tried by Phil Powell, he's now using Bog Trotters.

I also started a new job today, so I suspect I won't really be 100% at the weekend, so I'm going to see if I can pull that extra little something out of the bag and maybe get a second or third place.

Whoever plays Pete will have a hard game as he's brought a typically girly army. The four irish will be tricky and will likely live or die by how they do at impact against the Knights.

It's very open I think - with the armies brought I can't see anybody running away with it and I suspect it will go to the wire.

Yes indeed, a lot of drawn games may be on the cards.

So the 3 wins Dave had against Phil's Early Hungarians wasn't all down to the magic dice then?

I'm looking forward to matchups against the Mongols and just hope the shooty-skirmishing armies can hold Dave to a few boring draws as I think he is relying on hitting hard rather than a drawn out shooty battle.
