Mass multiplayer

Post by protectivedaddy »

This is directed mainly to Pip or the games developers, but everyone's input would be great.

Is there a way that multiple players could play on same map at same time........in other words say we had a map and there were 3 German battle groups controlled by 3 seperate players and there were 3 allied Battle groups controlled by another 3 seperate players - so you would have 6 players all controlling their own BG in one huge combined battle.

Now as this is turn based surely it is possible......isn't it.

I approve, Talonsoft did it. It would however require PBEM as multiple players would essentially have to "save a draft" before receipt of the turn. Unless they changed their server system/one account per customer rule. A "Team Account" and use of the ability to upload a draft turn could be a workaround.

It's definitely doable, but as with many things it is a question of priorities. While I am sure there would be players who would enjoy the feature, they would be a very small minority because of the dedication required to start up and maintain a 6+ player game :). And so we have to make value calls on these kinds of new features.

So, they are on our wishlist for sure, but don't hold your breath :)

Cheers

Pip, could a team sign up for a "Multiuser" Multiplayer Account and just use the "Save draft" feature until the turn is complete? Say 5 regisetered users said, "We want a seperate account for a "user" GSJ44Axis, for example. Is this possible?

Not really. It would require new ingame UI, some way to manage the "teams" etc. It's not really possible to just finagle these things, they need to be built in properly, otherwise we then spend a ton of time handling support issues for people who don't know how to get something working :)
