Please add end turn confirmation

Post by the_iron_duke »

Can you add an end turn confirmation splash for when one has clicked the End Turn egg-timer button, please.

I have just had a multiplayer turn back with no moves made and I suspect my opponent has accidentally pressed it after I had just told him to click on the weather icon (which is next to it) to find out further weather details. I know I've accidentally clicked on the End Turn button on occasion in single-player mode and since it auto-saves at the beginning of the turn, haven't been able to restore the game to the previous turn.

They have an end turn confirmation in Field of Glory, which I've played many hundreds of multiplayer games of, and because they do it is impossible for this situation to arise.

Another nice touch there is in Field of Glory is a splash when the multiplayer game is accessed asking if one would like to view one's opponent's turn or not. This happens even if you exit your turn and return to the game later (and if you do, it replays your opponent's move and also whatever moves you've made already that turn which is quite cool).

Anyway, I see an end turn confirmation splash as a MUST, even if it's an option in the settings screen (like notification if there are unmoved units).

P.S. I don't suppose there's any way of rolling back my opponent's move...?

The following would also be much appreciated, if it is possible to implement: Where there is a 'fork' in the campaign, it would be great if the screen where the player chooses which scenario to go to also had the option to save before the choice is made. Thank you...

Also on the wish-list: Where a ground combat unit delivers an attack that destroys an enemy unit, it would be nice if that unit had the option of an 'exploitation move' to advance into the cleared hex, even if it moved earlier.

Great idea, definitely.
Some people would find it quite annoying though (I know I do in Time of Wrath) so it would be useful if you had the option to turn it off as well (maybe make it always on for multiplayer)

Should be simple enough. Civilization always had that optional as well.

I don't understand, there is end turn confirmation, unless you moved and fired all your units, and in that case it does not matter.

This is what was puzzling me as well. Then I remembered the warning can be turned off, so that might have been the issue.

Yeah I just saw that in the menu, and it is turned off, so will have to play a few rounds with it on see how I like it.

As people already posted there is an optional end turn confirmation dialog already. It only goes off when you have at least one unit which can move or fire but then if you don't you turn is over anyway.

It is labeled a bit confusing but a picture says more then thousands words:

Just check the red marked option and you will effectively have an end turn confirmation.

It appears I made the wrong assumption when I concluded that my opponent had accidentally pressed the End Turn button. I have since started another multiplayer game and noticed that there was an end turn confirmation notice.

I came to the erroneus conclusion because I have accidentally ended a turn in singleplayer more than once (where an end confirmation splash is not a default setting) and because my opponent had just asked how to find out about the weather details, which are located next to the End Turn button.

I messaged the guy and he replied that he'd had a crisis of confidence after losing his first couple of units and had ended his move without making a move or accompanying it with a message.

So I was more Clouseau than Columbo in my deduction skills and for that I apologise.
