Artillery bases
Would it be correct to assume the depth of a 25mm scale artillery base is really 60mm and not the 80mm printed in the rules? The illustrations always seem to show square bases for the artillery. It just looks to me like someone made a small mistake in the table on page 164.

Re: Artillery bases
The table is correct. The illustrations are drawn with 15mm base sizes and the artillery bases for 15mm are square (40mm x 40mm).

I don't understand why the bases in 25mm wouldn't be the same ratio...square. What would be the reason for making them deeper? Fitting models on them?

Re: Artillery bases
Backward compatability with older rule sets so that people did not feel they had to rebase which is a big -ve factor for a lot of people when looking at a set of rules. However, as you will see on page 164 base width is the really important measurement and amongst consenting adults use whatever you like quite frankly.Schnockel wrote:I don't understand why the bases in 25mm wouldn't be the same ratio...square. Re: Artillery bases
I would simply push the gun forward. Only the wheels and trail need to be on the base.
Also, how many guns are we really talking about? Two per army? Three? That's hardly a burden to rebase.
I guess I'll just choose to disagree.

Re: Artillery bases
28mm guns only just fit on 60x80mm bases - they are way too deep for 60mm square.
