Cavalry vs. square

Does cavalry vs pike and shot (6 stand) get the better armor melee advantage? I would think not, that the cavalry would be like that shown on the cover of the rules...riding by and firing...but I've been wrong in my interpretations before.

Shot negates the better armour advantage, but Pike does not, so cavalry (or anyone else) fighting the Pike bases of a P&S BG in melee will get the better armour POA (if they have better armour of course) but those fighting the Shot bases will not.
