Request For Mac and Linux Testing

Post by SephiRok »

We've slightly changed how Pandora is linked on Mac and Linux, so it would be very helpful if everyone running Mac or Linux could give the new version a try.

If it hasn't worked for you before, please redownload. You can download just the binaries to not waste time and bandwidth:
Mac: http://download.pandora.proxy-studios.c ... naries.zip
Linux 32-bit: http://download.pandora.proxy-studios.c ... naries.zip
Linux 64-bit: http://download.pandora.proxy-studios.c ... naries.zip

Hopefully this will fix issues on OS X 10.9 and some weirdness on 10.8. I'm fairly confident we will also be able to get 10.7 working again, but there's currently an issue in one of our library dependencies so it will take a bit.

I am playing on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits without any problems.
Personally I prefer to keep the libraries too, for the future.

Just tried the last release on a 64-bit GNU/Linux, it does work well without any tweaking.

10.7 won't work yet.

If it doesn't start on 10.8 or 10.9 please redownload and start it in a terminal with something like "~/Downloads/Pandora\ Beta.app/Binaries/Pandora" and please let me know the output.

Thanks,
Rok

If you can get it working on OS 10.7.5 that would be awesome. Be happy to test when it is ready.

Hi,

I've downlaoded the game yesterday and played it. Everything was going fine.

Today, nothing is going on at all when I'm clicking on the Pandora Bera Application. The game is not loading at all. In fact, it is if I'm clicking on nothing because nothing appears.

Here are the specs of my computer :

Macbook Pro
OS X 10.8.5
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
4 Go 1600 Mhz DDR3

---

Since I wrote this message this morning, I have redownloaded and reinstall the game and everything is going fine. My guess is that the link from the app didn't work for some strange reason (I do not know computers that well, so sorry if my messages are vague and lack of technical precisions).

10.7 should work again. 10.9 testing would be nice.

I tried the updated Pandora Mac Beta using MAC OS 10.7.5. About 3 turns into the game it crashed. Ill try another game to see if I can replicate the issue. I have a log file but I get an error that says "The extension log is not allowed". Please advise.

I was able to reload the game and played another 30 minutes with no issues.

At the 50 minute point the game crashed again and it will not reopen. I have a saved game file but no luck loading it. I will download another copy and try again.

I downloaded a fresh copy of the game and had exactly the same issue. It worked for a few turns and then crashed. After the crash the game would not run.

I have been using the current version of the Mac build and have not had any of crashing problems that I previously reported. OS X 10.7.5

Just did a quick test run with Nouveau drivers v9.2.2 on an Asus(Nvidia) 430 GT 1Gb DDR3. Playable and no noticeable graphical glitches, in the short time I played, but a little 'sluggish'. Scrolling and animations like the rotating circle around units I'd guess was somewhere around 80% the speed of the same card with Nvidia drivers.

I am happy to report that I've tried the new version on OSX 10.7.5 and it runs smoothly.
I'll be giving some final feedback on what I think should be worked before release.

Hi, first time submitter, so hello all.

I'm trying to run the 64bit Linux version and after the update it deletes the Data/Audio/Sounds/Language directory (I can confirm it's present after the original unzip). This of course stops the gui loading.

Shall I just restore the original one from the zip and move on or is the latest update just broken and I should just leave it?

Cheers,
Chris

maquis196 I had the same issue. I symlinked Data/Audio/Sounds/Languages -> Data/Core/Languages and it seemed to fix it. I reported the issue to the devs by e-mail too.

Beautiful, that fixed it for me as well, so I can finally play this game. Cheers!
