New 1.05 beta gets Panzer's seal of approval

Good changes, improved game.

I'm not sure if this was an intended consequence of the new patch, but the war becomes much more tenuous for the Axis early on with the changes. It is now possible to stall out for a while in Poland and Paris seems much stronger. If the Germans don't steamroll, the game can get nasty for the Axis against the AI very quickly.

Poland has too many forces, but they are so poorly trained that it makes them quickly beatable.

How long does it take? I've been trying different tactics against the AI for the invasion of Poland & France. Over the last three evening I've played the 1st half to full year of the war approximately 15 times. The medium number of turns to conquer Poland is 3. Only once did I accomplish it in 2. One or two times it took 4. Of these 15 games, I've probably carried 4 through the invasion of France. The earliest conquest was July. I know I'm not the most accomplished tactician, but the invasion of Poland and France does seem to have become more difficult. By the way, I'm playing at a difficulity level = "even".

Taking France by July of '40 is sufficient to prepare for and successfully invade Russia by June '41. I try to set an invasion date for Russia of June 2, 1940- 20 days before the historical start of the war.
Don't measure your success by the time it takes to sack France, more importantly the Axis needs to complete a sweep of Denmark, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, and Yugoslavia by the end of '40. If France is falling in July of '40, you're on time to complete a winning game.

Coincidentally, to directly answer the question, it normally takes 3 turns to sack Poland. Sometimes, depending on individual battle results, it takes 4 turns. You should be able to take Denmark by the end of the 3rd turn as well. Norway usually falls for me at the end of the 6th turn. One word of advice, take Netherlands as soon as possible, but don't invade Belgium until you are fully prepared.
