I don’t know the western path of the GC yet, but I guess there are also real enemy hero-units missing. Good example is Captain Flyorov with his Katyusha unit in Smolensk 41. The name and overstrength alone is boring. Things would get more interesting if such named units would actually have a hero aboard. That would be more of a challenge against all the many hero-units the player has.
Too bad you may not release mods of the Grand Campaign, otherwise Slitherine would stone me to death.

You can't release mods of the grand campaigns? I guess that makes sense. Has anyone released a giant grand campaign of their own?

I thought this was the point of encrypting the scenarios in the first place, i.e. you can mod the DLC levels, but playing the changed level would require a registered version of the DLC it was part of ... has anyone tested whether or not this is the case?

No, the idea is you could mod the DLC, but playing your mod would require a copy of that DLC. Not exactly your copy, but A copy.
In other words, only people that have paid for a DLC could play mods based on that particular DLC.

Yeah, but this is how I THOUGHT it was supposed to work - what Horst wrote kinda contradicts my theory.

Once again, has somebody actually tested this? Or is there an official statement someplace?

nikivdd mentioned in his MPC '37- '39 mod topic that the DLC ('39) map files may not be included:

"After deliberation between Iain of Slitherine and myself, we agreed not to include them [the GC '39 map files] (just incase someone makes the inquiery)."

Well, I take these words as rule now as long as no Slitherine guy says differently here now.

I thought I better clarify this late than never - rezaf is absolutely right. You are free to mod any official content of Panzer Corps, but such mods can only be played by people who own the content which you mod too. This is true for DLCs and expansions alike.

Thanks for the official word Rudankort (and nice to see you around :) ) - since this would be pointless otherwise, I take it it's ok to distribute modded DLC scenarios, which is good to know.
I'd like to make a mod that replaces all those hero units you introduced with actual custom units (to allow those units to have a different icon)...

actually using Winmerge you could create patches, so that even if you modify all the files in a DLC it will still not work unless the person has the original files.

What I would like to see is having the game designers/developers sit down and add some battle history to enemy units and display ENEMY heroes. Allow prestige bonus for taking out some of these units. Stars, strength, names and ranks ain't enough. Make playing really interesting.

I for one would like to have a stable platform for a while so players and modders can work with it. I'm not a fan of patch after patch after patch, especially after this one was like a nightmare ;) let the guys focus on Soviet Corps now and possibly new Grand Campaigns and decide what features are useful for those campaigns :)

They capped initiative to awarded hero's but the special ones can have higher (like the +3 move infantry in dc39)

But here a trick to check the new hero units: If you don't want to replay a GC to find out you can although find it out by playing the standalone scenario.
Another trick to check the new hero units without playing through the campaign is to just load the scenario up in the editor
