25mm FoGR game table

Our armies for FoGR are older 25mm figs. We normally play on a ping-pong table (5'x9'). Also, our MU's are 1.5" (close to the 40mm so may of you might use).

The 15mm game is set on a 4'x6' table. Our problem is that if you multiply everything up by 1.5 for the 25mm figs, the ping-pong table is not deep enough...it's 5'x9' and the up sized table would be 6'x9'.

This difference in table depth causes issues with terrain and troop placement.

What do you normally see done in this case? Do people just place the troops as if there were an imaginary 6” on each side of the table or do you just make the table bigger...? What? What do you experienced 25mm people do about the table size?

As, I think, most 25mm games in the UK end up being played on 6x4 tables because that is what we tend to use, and (probably) with 1 MU = 1", I think the answer is they just accept that the 25mm game is not a straight equivalent of the 15mm game and vive la difference

Hi,
The recent 25mm bash at farnborough was generally on 6" by 5" tables.

We played 40mm = 1 MU for moving and firing.
For deployment we kept the 40mm = 1 MU for depth in from baseline but kept the flank zones as 1 inch = 1 MU.

Slight fudge but seemed to work well enough.
I guess if you have 9 foot wide then you do modify the flank and central zones to one that suits. I would be tempted to play as above with flank zones of 18 inches.

With the pre-set terrain, we managed to get 3 x 2.5 hrs ish games in and I for one think it worked really well with games getting to decision points quicker.

We play 25mm on 6x4 tables, usually at 650 points or less. Games take about 2 hours.
We use 1MU=30mm, which seems a good compromise for several reasons. A bit more than 1", but 40mm seems too big on the smaller table.
30mm is half a base width, so the restricted zone becomes one base width, which is easy to see and understand.
