Missing Mouse

I've just downloaded FoG to my laptop (HP Pavillion g6 running Windows 8) and when I start the game the mouse is invisible.

It's not visible on the opening screen and when I get to the game I still can't see it. I know it's there because different hexes/units show when it's over them but I can't see what I'm doing...

Could you please check with a different mouse? Are you using the notebook touchpad?
