Dead or alive units

Post by enric »

The problem with units that a player see as killed during his turn but then they come back to life again, is still present.
We play some scenario in a very detailed way, taking notes each turn (to test them) so we are sure of this.

This is an annoying bug that is worthy to try to fix it.
It seems like in some way, the "dices" are not the same during play or when the opponent sees the replay.

That's exactly it. We have (and do) spend a lot of time trying to find the issue - unfortunately it only turns up ever 100+ turns or so and so is very hard to track down. Finding MP syncing issues is very tough. We will continue to try and track down the problem.

Cheers

Umm, not agree, I'm playing just 2-4 games at once, and as we test these scenarios, before sending the turn we have a utility that allow us to annotate the casualties of both sides, when we start the turn we check the kills again.

I found it happens in every game almost once.

I think people don't realize that this happens because, If you play many games at the same time, it's difficult to remember, which units you killed last turn, and as many unit become hidden next turn, you don't know if they are still alive or not.

This is a major issue that makes no trust in BA. Imagine a chess game where, when it's your turn again, you see that the last turn killed bishop is still here!.

If you are seeing things that often, then please try and recall things that might be common factors on the turns where you see it.

If you are seeing things happening that much, and are willing, I would love to send you and your opponents an EXE with enhanced logging to try and track these things down.

Cheers

I have just encountered this error on a massive scale. Playing Enric's The Road to Wiltz V.1OA8, I killed three Sherman tanks, a mortar, a Priest, and left a transport with 50 morale (ending rounds). Next round my opponent has three tanks, a mortar and Priest alive, which I had to kill again (wasn't able to kill them all though, a tank survived as I had advanced units past it thinking it's dead.

Such errors have not appeared in a long time, and they're usually related to one or two units (it happened again when the server outage occurred, and I posted about it back then), but never had I seen 5 units coming back from the dead. They must be zombie commandos or something.
