i) The quarter-final matches will be paired games between the Medieval Germans (early) and the Hussites. The Medieval Germans may not choose Swiss allies. These matches can start on Sunday 3rd November as soon as the Quarter-final draw is posted in this thread.
ii) Quarter-final draw
1. Winner of Group Donskoi v Runner-up Group Osman
2. Winner of Group Osman v Runner-up Group Donskoi
3. Winner of Group Louis I v Runner-up Group Skanderbeg
4. Winner of Group Skanderbeg v Runner-up of Group Louis I
Semi-final draw
1. Winner of Match 1 v Winner of Match 3
2. Winner of Match 2 v Winner of Match 4
There will be no 3rd/4th place match.
ii) Tie-breakers
Should any of the quarter-final matches end in one win each then the tie-breaker will be used to determine who proceeds to the next stage. The tie-breaker will work like this . . .
Player A 25/30 beats Player B 33/30
Player B 27/30 beats Player A 34/30
In the first game Player A has 5 break points left in his army and he has inflicted 3 break points more than that required to rout his opponent's army so Player A has scored 5+3 = 8 tie-breaker points
In the second game Player B has 3 break points left in his army and he has inflicted 4 break points more than that required to rout his opponent's army so Player B has scored 3+4 = 7 tie-breaker points
Therefore Player A has won the tie-breaker by 8 points to 7.
