CONNECTION SUCKS THIS WEEK

Post by yamamoto »

With the connection issues for Battle Academy being ongoing now for about a week I believe that Slitherine needs to update its customers on the issue and what is being done.

Come on Slitherine!
I tried to play a few minutes ago once again on ipad and on windows desktop (yeap, paid for both) and both are giving me "failed to properly load game". I also got a "failed to validate your details"

Issues experienced this week:
Game keeps loading until a message pops up "failed to properly load"
Failed to validate details
Unable to save. Forced to quit the turn. This is followed by an email telling me to post my issue on the forum (very irritating).
Game does not load at all or gets to the current game list but unable to open game.

:(

Re: PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE BEING IGNORED-GAME CONNECTION SUCKS

I don't know what is going on. I have had serious issues for about a week now. I understand technical issues but I don't understand getting threatening emails about being locked out of my account if I keep downloading my turns over and over again. I have to download over and over again because I can't access them. I certainly hope someone somewhere is aware of that. Not letting me access my games is one thing but sending me threatening emails afterwards is pretty insulting.

Those are notifications automatic notifications sent from the server. The reason why the server sent this message is because our system has detected that the player have downloaded his turn multiple times.
The server tracks how often he uploads and download turns. Every download should have a matching upload in normal situations. All activity is recorded by the server and if anything unusual occurs it will notify us and the player.
These warnings can occur if you lose connection or crashes or tries to replay their turn. We expect a small amount of this in normal activity but if this occurs regularly the server will notify us and we will investigate.
The system is designed to stop cheating by replaying turns and if the player is playing normally then there's nothing to worry about as when an investigation is triggered by the server it is very easy for an administrator to tell the difference between normal behaviour and someone trying to cheat. The locking of an account only happens after we have investigate the issue and have talked with the player.

That's the explanation of why the server is sending those notifications. As you all know, our PBEM server is having issues since 26/09. We know that's the cause why players are downloading their turns multiple times.
The notification system was disabled this morning until this server problem is fixed.
Our apologies for all the inconveniences.

The issue seems fixed. Could you please try now and check if the issue persist?
All feedback is appreciated.

I can confirm mine is working splendidly well, and the loading time of maps is actually slightly quicker than before the problems so thankyou Slitherine.

For future reference could I recommend you assign a member of staff to post regular updates if any future problems arise, we as users know the problems that can be encountered with online play and accept when they occur but it can and did become frustrating at the lack of information being relayed.
