French surrender

Post by Falcon1 »

When playing as the allies against the AI (GS 2.10), when Paris falls I get a message asking me if I agree to the terms of an armistice. From reading the manual, I think that it is the Germans who are supposed to make the decision to accept or not? I always accept and then Vichy France and Syria get created as expected. I don't know what would happen if I clicked on the X in that window to refuse the armistice.

Is this a bug?

When I play as the axis, I also get the question to accept or not.

No, not a bug. Hotseat the 1940 scenario and find out what happens when it is declined (by the Axis). Or look at one of the many AARs where this has happened. (Including mine against Kragdob.)

But why am I getting the question to accept or decline when I play as the allies? Reading the manual I got the impression that the allies would automatically offer the armistice and only the axis had the option to accept or decline.

Thats certainly the case in multiplayer at least for later versions of GS . At one time it was wrongly being addressed to the Allies but was corrected. Maybe there is a difference for single player assuming you have the latest version.

This double question has been fixed in v3.00

This is still occurring in 3.0

Playing the allies against axis AI, when Paris is occupied I get a message asking me if I want to accept the armistice.

GS v3.0 is not updated regarding AI play. GS v3.0 is meant for PBEM or Hotseat.

The AI can't make decisions for anything added to the vanilla game. So you as the real player will have to decide whether armistice is accepted or not even if you're the Allied player. That means you get the option to try either way against the AI.

OK so you are saying that the concept of the armistice is something that is not part of the vanilla game then? I think I understand the issue now. Thanks for clarifying.

By the way, GS contains several features that are meant to affect games against the AI, so it would not be correct to say that it is meant only for 2-player games.

Those features are not part of the AI.class file. It's simply changes to the OOB and scripted events like Germany automatically attacking Norway and Denmark. The AI.class file is used for deciding choices for the AI. We haven't altered that file.
