Hi,
I have looked in the rules and it only mentions Light troops and non-shock cavalry with a shooting factor can skirmish... Does this means Horse with carbine as a shooting factor can not skirmish in single rank?
Cheers

Yes, this is why Cavalry cost more than the equivalent Horse. Don't get me started on Cavalry Lancers...Does this means Horse with carbine as a shooting factor can not skirmish in single rank?

The issue is that Cavalry lancers cost 2 more points than horse lancers, yet because they are lancers they count as "shock troops" and therefore cannot evade even if they are in a single line, yet they also take the -1 in CT's for being shot at by firearms. Therefore they cost more than similar horse yet get none of the key benefits of cavalry and all the disadvantages, which horse don't get!!

Cavalry cost more than horse because they have the ability to evade.
Lancer Cavalry can't evade because they are Shock, so they cost more than the equivalent Horse, but are actually worse because they also take a -1 in CT if shot by firearms.
OK, I know they can interpenetrate LF, which Horse can't, but it's not really any compensation.
Edit: Beaten to it by Don!
