My boys are also all average although they'd prefer to be called "Average Jimmys" rather than "Average Joes". Hunter
Re: Bayfog V 26/27october - average joe competition again
OK...at the risk of appearing a complete thicky....how does the average joe thing work. I know all troops must be average or poor but say I wanted to take my Assyrians...do I downgrade the chariots to average (as they are compulsory) or can I not take chariots because they are superior only in the list.
Told you I would appear to be a thicky!!!

You can't use a list where better than average are compulsory
phil
putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

Chris Proudfoot (that is meee) is a defo for Bayfog. Dave Finnigan needs another week to be sure. I will send you my cheque in the morning....an interesting variant of the cheque is in the post.
Cheers

Yes Rob, my cheque began its march south on Friday IIRC. Thank goodness we still have the same currency. Hunter.

20 is a fine old number Rob. Look forward to the weekend having been on a family holiday down that way many moons ago. I have even nearly finished painting my army of 104 bases of average Jimmys for the basho. Hoots mon, fish suppers, irn bru and clootie dumpling!

Hi Hunter
I'm afraid yours hadn't turned up by yesterday. Obviously the guards on the wall have been doing their job well and not letting anything down from the North.
Dave Finnigan will now not be able to make it so we are back to odd numbers if anyone wants to step forward to fill the gap.
Chris Proudfooot's cheque has turned up.

Chris, your cheque has been received today.
We also have John Edwards on board from the Durham club so back up to 20 players.
Paul is also back from his jaunt around the world and I'm sure he'll re-introduce himself back in this thread soon.

Hi chaps my name's Paul and I am a habitual wargamer and serial traveller....
well done Rob you have done a great job on chivvying the troops up.
So my tuppence hapenny is just that
.. army lists to Robert by 11 Oct please (remembering that armies with compulsory superior troops cant be used nor ICs.)
.. as usual we will aim to arrive 9.30 for a 10am start. To give travellers the chance to travel.
.. buffet lunch at the pub is confirmed
.. there is one new prize this year.. photos later
.. my email address book doesn't seem to want to work so at present I cant seem to email folk from my address book
.. 20 is a great number of gamers. its the biggest ever Bayfog; but only in waist size as last year we had 21
...If anyone wants to sleep on the floor at my house I can fit you in... or you can share a double bed with a scots man
.. competition places are still open to new entrants as the hall can accommodate as many people as we wish!
cheers
paul

Re: Bayfog V 26/27october - average joe competition again
welcome back paul. my list of jimmys is in and approved (well okayed if not actually deserving of approval by rob). looking forward to a relaxed weekend of wargaming - rob's assured me its not a win at all costs tournament and i trust him. unfortunately it was a financial toss up between the napoleon at war or fog am v2 rules last month and the nappys won out so i will be relying on a v2 qrs. please attribute any haziness over the rules to this and do correct me if i do wrong. i am used to this at home! hunter.
Re: Bayfog V 26/27october - average joe competition again
Naturally it is a very relaxed event. Altho Robert does like to win!.
We play nearly 4 hours a game (if needed) so we aim to get results at a relaxed pace.. we even wander 100 yards to the pub for a beer and a large buffet at lunch on both days
And for those staying in Bay we also tootle to another pub for a meal at night
It is such a friendly competition that George Dick even goes to the toilet in his bound !
cheers
