Why don't you call a'hex ' a 'hex'?

Post by Delta66 »

It tooks me sometime to figure out that "Territory" actually means "hex" in Pandora.
I found it very counter-intuitive, most wargamers (there are plenty of them here on Slitherine forum) call a "hex" a hex", and territory refers to a larger area or group of hexes.
During my first games when researching Operations like 'Training' for example I fought it wil affect all units in a single city. I found this realy confusing, once you know it, it is less of a problem. But at least make it clear in the manual, what you mean by "Territory".

I'd second this, the first time I saw "territorry" I assumed its some larger zone - the 6 spaces around a city.
Not sure if we want to call it hex, but definitally "territorry" has connotations of being more than just 1 space.

I've also got to agree with the OP. I've been involved with wargaming for over forty years and I've never hears of a hex being called a "territory" until I got involved with Pandora. Please consider changing the docs and replace "territory" with "hex."

Just my $.02,

Or if not hex than at least "space" or "field". Space or field can have a connotation of it being a single hex. Territorry sounds like its some group or set of hexes.
