I am now in to July 1942 in my first playing against the AI and early in a PBEM game with a friend. A couple of comments. The lack of a replay in PBEM makes it difficult to determine what happened in my opponents move. I hope there is a replay in Commander Napoleon. In my game against the AI, although there is a replay, the fact that it automatically zooms out for the AI move also makes it more difficult to see what is happening. It would be preferable if I could choose the zoom level for viewing the AI's move. Also when Russian winter occurred, it wasn't readily apparent what impact it had on the Germans, if any.
A question about German armour. As mentioned, it is July 1942. The graphic icon for German tanks is the Panther. Oddly enough, when the Germans invaded Russian in June 1941, the graphic icon was a Tiger. I would have expected a Mark III. Anyway, I have landed in France and the German Panther tanks are amazingly strong against my tanks. For example if I attempt to attack a German tank with one of my tanks (with a leader) the projected combat results are something like 2/15 or 3/14. On the opposite side, German tanks have blown away a couple of my 10 factor tanks with one attack. The odd thing is, if I attack a German tank with one of my infantry, I get projected results like 2/2, 2/4, or 3/3. In fact, I managed to eliminate a German attack with multiple attacks by my infantry. Very strange.

If enemy tanks slaughter your tanks then it depend on his AT value (tank destroyer tech) being much higher than your survivability (armour tech). But his AT is not used when he is fighting infantry so it explains why your infantry has a better chance. Perhaps your infantry have some powerful AT bonus also being able to inflict some damage on his tanks?

And note that the icons are not date dependent, rather technology-level dependent. So your opponent (assuming you are the Allies) must have invested heavily in armor labs.
Also, there is typically one winter turn where Axis effectiveness in USSR is lowered, and more than Allied. That's the turn to attack (eliminate salients, etc.). The other winter turns only reduce mobility.

I looked at anti-tank and ground attack values for my units and the German units. They are as follows:
German tanks - Panther icon
Ground attack - 8
Anti-Tank bonus - 4
British infantry
Ground attack - 4
Anti-Tank bonus - 0
British tanks
Ground attack - 7
Anti-Tank bonus - 0
Considering that the Brit infantry and tanks both have a AT bonus of 0, seems odd that the infantry are able to take on the German tanks whereas the Brit tanks can't touch them.

If you get better odds with infantry then it has to do with AT values or terrain effects where infantry would succeed better than tanks.
