Help on Tiger scenario
Has anyone ever got past the tiger tank scenario in the western desert campaign? I've played it 5 times and haven't even come close. Would appreciate any advice on this. Two things I would like to see in future editions of BA is the ability to load infantry on tanks and the ability of tanks and artillery to fire smoke rounds. Thanks. TK

Cannot help on this particular scenario, but check out a number of scenarios as per the link below.....

Use scout/ infantry to locate it, unless it reveals itself then use whatever indirect fire assets to suppress it. You can take it our from the flank or rear when it's suppressed. Also remember it cannot " see" into buildings so once again sneak infantry, preferably engineer units, into buildings to ambush it. Realistically when facing German armour in this game that becomes the norm to set ambushes for them. It becomes a whole different ball game however when facing human opponents.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Re: Help on Tiger scenario
In my case the Tiger was destroyed by a Sherman at 2 or 3 hexes...FROM BEHIND.
Make it shoot at your units...preferably units it won't hit easily. Then shoot at it to suppress it...
When surpressed it will turn its back to you...
OR...go around it...i guess...
You can destroy it from behind with tanks or engineers...

I can put up with trying to destroy the Tiger, it's the uncanny ability of the German artillery to find and destroy my units every time that it fires!!!

I played this scenario a long while back...Tombstone wrote:I can put up with trying to destroy the Tiger, it's the uncanny ability of the German artillery to find and destroy my units every time that it fires!!!
I don't even remember German Artillery...but I DO remeber the Tiger and the 88s...so i guess artilery wasn't that dangerous...
As side note...a player can also use artillery on a similar fashion...i usually bombard emplacments where i guess the AI placed its guns...and each time you replay a scenario you even KNOW where the guns are...
It is not very fair...but it is also hard not to do it...
(The first time i try to guess the targets...the second time i already KNOW...i can only miss if i decide to miss ON PURPOSE)
Re: Help on Tiger scenario
I tried again. This time I went for the first village. Then I went for the hill. After I captured the hill, I went for the third village. The Tiger came hunting. I plastered it with the off map artillery, the Hurricane and the two 25 pounders. I suppressed it. Ran a Sherman up onto it's rear. Goodbye Tiger! I defeated the counter- attack. Then I moved on the second village. Captured it and won the scenario. This time I didn't get any re-enforcements, and there wasn't any German Artillery or FW190's? Strange, but I won....

Another tactic here. The player usually heads for the villages not the hill but should you destroy the tiger and have at least 1 Sherman, you can steamroll whatever axis troops remain. You boys haven't even BEGAN to experience pain..... Come after you get to "Operation Cobra". Makes this scenario look like a cake walk.Tombstone wrote:I tried again. Re: Help on Tiger scenario
Tombstone, how did you approach the hill. I have tried a couple times, but get slaughtered. I managed to capture all the villages, avoiding the hill, only to find the Germans recapturing the villages behind me. I did manage to get the Tiger with an anti-tank gun, but lost because I could not recapture the first village in time.

I leave my 25 PDrs at the first one to hold it down.
