Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
With less than a week until the deadline, I have lists for 9 out of the 30 players. That's not too bad really! I'm away from home next weekend so I'm happy for lists to arrive by Monday 16th. If I've got them all by then I'll try to get the R& published on the 17th or 18th.

My list in too.
I see FOGAM have got their Runners and Riders up already.
After this weekend getting my arse whipped as Henry VIII, I'm looking forward to using a more sensible army!!

Don, I see you can get whipped when fielding armies both North and South of the border. You cannot blame the Flodden Scots all the time.

Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
OK, there's still a couple of outstanding queries, but nothing that affects the substance of the R&R. Here are the Teams:

Here are the players and armies in each pool, in team order:

Pools 1 and 2 have a number of repeated armies, but everyone has put their own unique spin on each. Pool 3 is full of stuff I've never seen used before. It's also great to see a few new names. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone the wekend after next.
The round 1 draw I will be random, but I will keep the two Burton and SELWG teams apart for the first 2 rounds at least and longer if possible.
Anyone concerned about the usage of "Scotch" referring to anything other whan Whisky or Eggs should refer their queries to Mr Allen.

Simon, I was going to pick Qing but then realised most of the troops I wanted to use were not available on the dates available for the competition.

Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
I can only the assume the misuse of the term Scotch is due to the owner of the army being totally pickled on the stuff although with the English being notoriously mean this cannot possibly have been bought by himself.
We Scots do not mind being mislabeled providing we can use our own term of endearment for our Southern neighbours. That term being of course B*St*rd English.
364 days to go.

Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
So regarding the cunning plans in Group 3, will the Safvid Persians wielding the latest technology, muskets, or the Khmer bringing nasty elephants to an honest cavalry fight be the most effective, we'll wait and see. I have spent ages building a Tatar army, finding the right figures that look disreputable enough and its just finished so can't wait to get on table for first outing. I should collect the figures at the Southampton competition on Sunday, which could make the Southampton competition even more painful as I sit their with all my irish foot whilst in reach are hordes of mounted

In my defence Scotch was the common usage of lowlanders at the time.
Fellah = short for fellahin, the peasantry of Arab countries.spotteddog wrote:Good luck all you fellahs!
That'll be Simon, Richard, Martin and Paul then.

Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
Johnny Khmer is not annoyed at all but just enjoys a bit of good repartee before a tournament. If you look at the exchanges before Britcon between my club mate Hunter and myself you will get the idea.
My more pressing concern is having seen the army choices of my opponents I am beginning to think Khmer was not a very good choice. If only I could ship in a few more units of elephants.

Re: Derby World Teams 28/29 September
Why not put that new billion pound nuclear sub to good use and ship a herd of the pachyderms into the frame John. Once the battles are over we can butcher 'em for the food banks springing up in our High Streets! Imagine calling Simon, Richard, martin and paul "peasants" ..... thats far too good for 'em!
