Ive installed spartan straight from the cd and ive downloaded the dll file so thatt it works in vista 32bit (what im currently using) and the game works perfectly fine, however, the colours in the game and in the games menu are horribly wrong and distorted like im tripping out.
Ive encountered this in other old games and fixed it somehow by trying lots of different fixes, however on this game i cant find one which seems to work and ive been looking for ages to find a fix but none of them work.
If anyone has encountered the same issue or knows how to fix the colour issues it would be much appretiated as i cant wait to play this awesome game
Open the folder where you've installed the game. Locate and select a file named "Spartan.exe". Press the right mouse button and select "Properties". Click on the "Compatibility" tab. Tick the option "Run this program as an administrator". Tick the options as well "Disable visual themes", "Disable desktop composition" and "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings”. Click on "Apply" and "Ok". Double click on "Spartan.exe" to run the program.
If this fails do the same as above but also tick the option "Run this program on compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" in the "Compatibility" tab.
Edit: I just saw Pip's post. If this fails please do as he says and attach a DxDiag report file.
How to get a Directx Dialog file:
1. click on "START" (on Windows 8 Press "Windows Key" + "R" and go to 3)
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. open the text file, copy the contents, and post along with your issue or attach it to your message.
Well im using a laptop
presario f500
Windows vista home premium 32-bit
958mb ram
Amd athlon dual core processor 1.70ghz
Nvidia ge force go 6100 graphics card
Not exactly an amazing laptop lol but it shud be ok to run the game
Erm im not quite sure how to upload a txt file using my phone il try to do it lol we really need wifi in our new house lol
Sorry, but we need more detailed information, which is usually provided with the DxDiag report file, like drivers version, etc.
If you aren't able to attach the file can't you copy the contents to your post?

Your graphic card drivers aren't installed, so no wonder why you're having that colour displaying issue. Please download tand install them.

Although is not related with your issue, I also suggest to install Vista service pack 2, even taking into consideration that your system will become a little slower, specially because your laptop only have 1GB RAM. That's too short. You should have 2GB. Nowadays, it's not too expensive to purchase memory, even when you would have to exchange your 2x512MB DDR2 for 2x1GB DDR2.
Hmmm ive instslled the graphics card and now when the laptop turns on it loads the windows logo, makes all the startup noises and then the screen goes black and i cant do anything unless i put it in safemode.... lol
It's possible that those drivers require Vista service pack 2 installed, but I can't tell that for sure. I suggest you to contact HP support and ask them where to download the graphic drivers for your laptop model.
You can always try Nvidia site as well. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Regarding the game (and with most games), you won't be able to play correctly without proper graphic card drivers installed.
You should try to connect that laptop to the Internet and run Windows update. There's a chance that the update could install a graphic card driver. It could be not be the most appropriate, but it would be better than your current situation.
Ive fixed the laptop now. I restored the system to a month and a half ago becauseni dont remeber having problems.on other games, reinstalled graphics card and now it works. Thanks for your help
