Game complexity

I have Panzer Corps and Allied Corps and love the series. I'll be getting Afrika Korps soon. I was wondering what game would be comparable to these but with a bit more complexity (like unit composition, research, etc.). I have all of the Hearts of Iron series and I don't need something that complex, but am looking for something in-between the two. Note that I loathe RTS games and so am looking for something turn based, a hair more complex than the Panzer Corps series. Any suggestions?

The Commander Series might be what you are looking for. It has a simplified combat mechanic but very similar but fights the entire war on one large strategy map with research & production. Check out Commander Europe at War of if you like WW1 Commander the Great War.
