Can't update to 2.3
Hi. I purchased the game yesterday. When I run it I get a message asking if i would like to automatically update to the latest version, which closes the game and takes me to a download page. After downloading the file battleacademy-patch-230.exe I try to run it and get an error message "Only part of a readprocess memory or writeprocessmemory request was completed".
I also tried running the updater.exe file in the directory but this gives me a 'could not open patches.txt to parse (0)' message.
Thanks

It sounds like the patch EXE didn't download correctly. Try using a download manager to download the patch again.

Hi, i tired a download manager, download express, and still have the same problem. Is there a mirror or alternate download for the patch?

Re: Can't update to 2.3
What is the downloaded size in bytes of the file? I will compare to what it should be.
Also - is it possible that this is an Anti-Virus issue?

370,237,933 bytes. I tried disabling AVG but still get the same error.

Are you installing from a harddisk or from some other media?

Re: Can't update to 2.3
Can you try installing from a USB stick etc - that error is usually caused by a problem with the diskdrive.
What path do you have BA installed to on your machine?

Re: Can't update to 2.3
What version of Windows are you running on? Is it a virtualised machine or anything like that? It's an error generally caused by fairly obtuse issues, like DMA settings for an optical drive, or trying to run 64/32bit apps incorrectly (which isn't really possible in this case without doing something very odd).

Re: Can't update to 2.3
All the checking I have done into what can cause this kind of issue tends toward some kind of OS problem with disk access. It seems to be an especially vague error message
. I found this advice from Microsoft:
>>>
Method 3: Change the transfer mode for the CD drive in IDE Channel Properties
If the transfer mode for the CD drive was changed or is incorrect, Windows cannot transfer data from the CD to the computer. You can resolve this issue by changing to the correct transfer mode. To change the transfer mode, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
The Device Manager dialog box opens.
Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. A subset will open, listing the different IDE ATA/ATAPI channels for the computer.
Right-click the channel where the CD drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.
Warning Do not change the Primary IDE Channel, Device 0, because this is typically the system disk. Changing this transfer mode setting may cause the computer to operate incorrectly or not at all.
On the Advanced Settings tab, select PIO Only in the Transfer Mode box for the device that represents the CD drive. Typically, this is Device 0. Then, click OK.
Test the CD in the CD drive.
If the issue is not resolved after you change the transfer mode for the secondary IDE channel device 0, the CD drive may not be located there. Use the same procedure to change the transfer mode back to DMA if available. Then, repeat steps 1-6 to change the transfer mode for IDE devices in the following order until the issue is resolved:
Primary IDE channel, device 1
Secondary IDE channel, device 1
If this method resolved the issue, you are finished. If this did not resolve the issue, try method 4.
>>>
But I am not sure how pertinent it is to your problem. From digging through similar issues online it seems that this kind of problem shows up when there is some kind of intermittent drive control issue. You might want to also check your BIOS settings to make sure they are correct.
Sorry I can't be of more specific help.
