One suggestion and one observation...

Post by timek28 »

I've had this problem occur to me on several occasions so I've thought that maybe it wouldn't be bad that besides standard auto-save feature (at last turn), to introduce auto-save at say every fifth turn. So there would be some 4-8 auto saves per scenario. Of course this could be made in a way to keep only auto- saves from the current scenario in order to avoid pile up of auto saves.

Why I think this is important? Well on more than one occasion I missed scenario objective, or some condition and noticed it when it was too late. Occasionally I forget to do manual saves (especially when things go well), and then I realize my mistake in the last turn or two. This often requires complete scenario reload, which sucks so basically auto-save on every 5th turn might help with this problem.

One more thing I wanted to state. There are just too many occasions when AI unit survives attack remaining with the strength of 1. I just don't know why this happens (well I realize it is AI cheat of some kind), and it is annoying. I don't know if any of you guys experienced this?

I agree with you regarding the saves. I often catch myself not saving during the scenario as well and suffer exactly the problem you describe.

Regarding the "cheating AI" i doubt it's the case. It just happens. It's human nature to notice the unfavorable events more then the one that favor us. It's the same that makes people believe that the RNG is always going against them as well.

I wish there were a "save" button in the main UI. I play on a tablet so it would be nice to be able to save regularly (even multiple times in the middle of the same turn) with a single click.

Well when we are discussing save function, some hot key (F5, F6) for quick saving wouldn't be bad either. My game tends to drag process of loading list of save games a LOT (sometimes it lasts like a whole minute). So quick save would be really nice. I hope this is read by devs, or patch creators :-S

The workaround is to delete or move your old saved games. To avoid deleting any saved games that I might later want, I created a "Save Old" folder in /My Games/Panzer Corps and moved them there. It really sped things up.

I don't know. AI probably doesn't cheat, but there should be some statistic on how many times AI unit survives with the strength of 1. I encounter that happening to me at least 4-5 times in one scenario. I hate when I have to use 3-4 units in order to hunt down that sole survivor and I'm in a rush to capture all objectives. Reload is only option then. This is especially apparent in early years when German tanks are still weak and units are not experienced. Later years are better as German tanks are very strong and cheating of that type would be too obvious.
