Well, original SC2 got 8 free of charge patches too :)

Are we talking about forts buildable in the game? If yes then it's a good thing they were not added. The only historical example (atlantic wall) was not a big success.

But on the other hand an undo feature would work perfectly ok using only hotkey. :)

That is true and it depends on what approach the developers use. If a game gets many patches can be seen not only as a good commitment by the developers but also as a weakness of the release version of the game and questioning if the game is properly tested before sold. It is more fair to players to get what they buy rather than buy and hope the game gets fixed, at leist that is what Firepower Entertainment motto is.

For future products you can expect the Commander games to be even more stable than CEAW since some childhood diseases were very hard to detect and those solutions will be reused :)

For the record, I strongly feel me $50 front-end investment in CEaW was well worth it. If a massive expansion pack was offered for another $50 and it included a world map or hexes subdivided by 6 with more units or any combination of both, I'd gladly pay the piper.

I love the game, and it's one of the best time spent enjoying the game vs. dollars spent ratios I could have ever imagined.
