Population Growth

Post by Coronel324 »

I'm having a lot of fun with the game but I am not sure that I really understand the limits on population growth.

Please let me know if the following are true:

1. Maximum population for a city is 13,500 (shown at the top of the city detail screen).
2. That 13,500 also corresponds to 18 of the little population icons that are either in use in a city building or in the unused pool at the bottom of the city detail screen.
3. The rate of population growth is shown in the lower rate side of the city detail screen.
4. The bath or hospital structure increases the rate of growth shown on the city detail screen.
5. Population points assigned to the bath or hospital structures further increases the growth rate shown.
6. It has been commented on in the forums that some population points must be left unassigned to buildings for growth to occur.
7. Once the city reaches the maximum of 13,500 (18 population icons in the city) no further growth takes place until some of the population is used to form military units.
8. Once the city reaches 18 population icons no further growth occurs (except as in point 7 above) even though the population growth number in the city detail screen remains unchanged!

I would appreciate your input on this.

Actually, there is a small detail which is not entirely correct.. The population in a city CAN grow even without any unassigned workers, it's just much slower and takes much more time.

Yes that's true - the natural growth is slower the bigger the city.
