flank charge

Post by papsterdino »

I was involved in a game earlier this year my opponent. Declared a flank charge on one of my units on the way in his unit hit the front corner of another unit and stepped forward to hit the flank. The umpire by chance was observing and said this was not a flank charge as ist thing contacted was not a flank rule book says the unit not any views please cheers

Seems a slightly unusual ruling from what you describe. I don't believe there is any reason why you can't charge 1 BG frontally and a different one in the flank or rear with the same charging BG - in fact I'd say it is perfectly acceptable.

The relevant pages in the rules would appear to start on Page 60.

Were there any other factors as to why it couldn't be a flank charge?

It is a legal flank charge on the unit being flank charged as that unit is not being contacted on the front corner.

You need to deal with it on a unit by unit basis.

Don't worry Rob, Elizabeth will get the better of him eventually... oh no, that was Darcy, not Dalby, my mistake.

A thoroughly well deserved victory it was too Rob. I told you it was a good time to play me.

I've identified at least 5 howlers I made in our game which could and should have been avoided - looking forward to the next time. :)
