We're probably going to ask the AM community if they want a 25 period at Rol Call or The BHGS Challenge, so would there be any interest in doing the same for R? I am assuming Britcon is out as more people come by train!nigelemsen wrote:as an aside:

We gave back a total of £605 to the traders through the "Britcon Fiver", meaning at least £1200+ was spent by the gamers over the weekend - most traders reported a much better show than the last few years, which is good news all round!daveallen wrote:. I hope the traders did as well out of the Hannibal Fivers as I did. You can never have too many laser cut bases.

You do realise that Alasdair dropped more points than you achieved through the weekend. If you had played 6 games you might have got a better score...

Impressive performance from Lynette - only player who finished in the top 6 who was not a UK ranked top 15 player or reigning World Champion.

Poor Nigel, who needs enemies when you have friends like that. Obviously a believer in the maxim that you should never hita man when he is down but kick him as it easier.
I am sure Nigel learned a lot from the weekend and will be back to wipe the smiles off our faces next year. Go on Nigel, give them hell.

Lynette was only one more draw away from a top 3 finish.

I have finished bottom of the pile at Britcon so I know what it is like (not aided by drawing Alasdair first up...)

Re: Britcon 2013
Don, your post raises an interesting question. Is army choice inspired or a matter of luck. Last year I picked West Sudanese and won while this year a similar choice by another player did not work out as well because of the lack of cavalry armies. When I picked it last year, I thought it could work but was fortunate I ran into quite a few armies with cavalry. A lucky choice by me I think rather than inspired.
I am sure however Lynette's choice was inspired.

Timmy, I am afraid your efforts to get any sympathy from me are too late!! Although I must admit you drawing Alasdair in the first round almost comes close to drawing a tear from me in mutual sympathy.

Re: Britcon 2013
Once I was 1 hour into my first game with the army, that is practice game against Simons savoy, I had worked out where I was going to finish with my historically interesting army... So with that the weekend was easy... Experiment with different ideas and plays... Many things learnt... Warfare and farnborough armies worked out... Remember I had our winners undivided attention for 3 hrs on the way home...marshalney2000 wrote:Poor Nigel, who needs enemies when you have friends like that. Ps: I thought I might mention Byron and I game 4th at attack this year with a sensible army... And 4th by 1pt off 3rd placed bob and Ben...

If any one is interested I have just listed my Hapsburg Austrians with extra units on EBay UK although this can be sold internationally. I do not come with the army which is a blessing. No smart comments from you Hunter!

Those lovely Danes so much better than average lolSwartzeHeinrich wrote:I had a great time at Britcon. Partly because playing the accual games was a lot more fun then i remember but mostly because of the friendly atmosphere!
I met so many friendly and generous people i don't even know where to start.
I would however especially like to thank my opponents for putting up with my 4000+ rules questions and 2000+ obvious mistakes (all except Dave Redhead....i don't like him.....bringing 6/0 bayonet/reg gun BG borders on being anti-social if you ask me..........). You are a great bunch of people!
I bought Hunters lovely army for a friend of mine so ill drag him along to the doubles competition in October.
Hope to see you all there!
