If Hunter's score was roughly equal to mine before we played in round 5 (good game, thanks, and at least we demonstrated that the Anglo-Dutch were indeed "last year's model"), then his final score should be around 62 points.

A big congrats to Madaxeman, Jim and everyone else who helped organise a great comp. The comp was great and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, even Nigel, who we can all agree, kept smiling as we all rolled his army.

I quite liked the idea of being able to drop your worst game,,so, for me that was the whooping that John's Hapsburg Germans gave me. I was quite happy to play all six games, as that was the whole purpose of going to Britcon on (other than bee, curry and catching up with everyone).

All six of my games were fantastic, it was a different experience bringing in an all foot army (the one bg of average horse don't count) and as always, I took the fight to my opponents. The draw against Alasdair was the the most thrilling as I fully expected to get rolled, but the Savoy held their ground on for all dear life.

Thanks to all my opponents for six fantastic games and see you at Derby.

Now, what army to build next.......

That would be as in not moving more than 8" from your base edge against Alasdair!!!!

Congratulations on your 3rd place - well done!

I did move!

I had half of my foot within 20" of Alasdair's base line.

There wasn't much need to move as I can always rely Alasdair to corner sit......

On my side of the table

Still recovering tonight from an exhausting, but very enjoyable weekend.

Think I took completely the wrong army  My 12 elephants certainly would have been good against cavalry, shame there was so few

Have to say excellent job done by the organisers and the £5.00 voucher was a great idea.

Don't really mind what is decided next year about number of games, I will be back.

It is very unsporting of Alasdair to insist upon corner sitting - he did that to me at Britcon a few years back, shame it was in BOTH my corners...

I had a great time at Britcon. Partly because playing the accual games was a lot more fun then i remember but mostly because of the friendly atmosphere!

I met so many friendly and generous people i don't even know where to start.

I would however especially like to thank my opponents for putting up with my 4000+ rules questions and 2000+ obvious mistakes (all except Dave Redhead....i don't like him.....bringing 6/0 bayonet/reg gun BG borders on being anti-social if you ask me..........). You are a great bunch of people!

I bought Hunters lovely army for a friend of mine so ill drag him along to the doubles competition in October.

Hope to see you all there!

I'll try to be as anti social able as I can then :) Not a covenanter in sight or ever again.... :) From the end of tonight they will be re-flagged as montrose... and practiced with this time in... for warfare in November (in Reading... can highly recommend it, lots of games. ( over one sports hall worth of tables across many periods, plus lots of demo games to join in... plus lots of traders... again a complete sports hall worth).

glad you enjoyed your visit to the UK... did it rain as it's summer? :)

Simon, what figures did you use for your Savoy army? I forgot to ask you.

Not the right Simon, but I saw them, at least the backs of them as my highlanders smashed through them... :D They were Essex ...

Me too, the keils have never been so well ventilated! Their worst experience being against Dave Parish's Chinese - 21 shooting dice against a single bg  three times

Luckily, the Covenanters came to my rescue, but too late to boost me into the mid-table mediocrity I aspire to.

Another 'Me too' on the compliments to the organisers of an impressive event. I hope the traders did as well out of the Hannibal Fivers as I did. You can never have too many laser cut bases.

Probably the Ming's finest moment ever! You took the whole experience in a great spirit though - and played with scrupulous fairness, pointing out things to your own disadvantage. So thanks to you and my other opponents for six great games. Also I'll add to the general chorus of thanks to the organisers - very smoothly done!

OK, with apologies to those affected here are the revised fina positions. Hunter/Richard and Martin/Ray had their scores reversed which casued the problem. Thanks to everyone for their patience with this.

as an aside:

As 25mm FOG Ancients was missing this year... any chance of 25mm FOGR comp next year?

Congratulations to Dave Parish for the highest position with an undeniably crappy army. Kudos.

Congratulations to Simon LeRay-Meyer for stunning success with a previously largely (entirely?) unseen army choice. No doubt we will see some bandwagon hoppers at the bottom of future scoresheets.

Congratulations to all for bringing such a nice spread of army choices from 19 different army lists, and no army list appearing more than twice.

And thanks to my opponents for 6 friendly, enjoyable games.
