How is Heavy Weapon playing out under the revised rules?
I seem to remember people predicting Dacians and Thracians in particular becoming super-Armies in period.
Any comments?

The combination of MF Heavy Weapon with rear rank bow or crossbow may be the real winner under the V2 changes. Various Empires of the Dragon armies are a lot more viable now.

Thracians have always been a super army. But MF are much more vulnerable to HF and mounted in the open at impact, since losing an impact always gets you a -1 now plus another for MF losing to mounted/HF. And skirmishers with bow or sling suffer from reduced ranges.

Thank goodness that heavy weapons were not broken. Yes, they perform better, but not so much so that they are destroying everyone in front of them.
I happen to play quite a bit of Hundred Year War, and Later Medieval Danes... For both versions. I can tell you that they are a bit more scary to Romans, but not enough for my troops to defeat better players. ...and thank goodness that I should not beat better players because I took lots of heavy weapons!
