Unit combat stats explanation ?
So:
ground attack is about doing damage to land units
shock is about reducing enemy's effectiveness (here is first question - it works only against ground units, or against all?)
anti-tanks is about reducing hostile armour's survivability
naval, air and ASW combat values are about doing damage to corresponding unit classes
strategic attack is about doing PP damage to hexes
quality is about effectiveness - how fast you lose/regain one and what is maximum value
survivability is about reducing your own casualties.
Now question:
What is ground defense about? If it reduce damage taken, than what is its difference from survivability. If it does something different, then what?

Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
You are not completely correct. Ground attack is used as your combat value if you are ATTACKING. Ground defense is used as your combat value if you are DEFENDING.
So an armor unit with 7 ground attack strength and only 4 ground defense will inflict almost twice as many hits when attacking as when defending.

Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
The reason you get fewer losses if your land units have higher ground defense is because you inflict more steps on the attacker. Since the defender fires before the attacker it means the attacker will fire with fewer steps.
Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
Is it always like this in the game That : defender always fire before attacker ?Stauffenberg wrote: Since the defender fires before the attacker it means the attacker will fire with fewer steps.

Thanks! It explains things why armoured are poor defenders.Stauffenberg wrote:You are not completely correct. Ground attack is used as your combat value if you are ATTACKING. Ground defense is used as your combat value if you are DEFENDING.

Nope. It is only for ground vs ground combat. Air vs air units fire simultaneously and naval vs naval attacker fires first.Morris wrote:

Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
Air and naval units don't have ground defense. Only ground units have that.
Firing sequence is.
Naval vs naval. Attacker then defender
Air vs air. Simultaneously
Ground vs ground. Defender then attacker

Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
Air vs ground and air vs naval defender also fires first.
Not sure about naval attacking airbase, probably defender fires first aswell.

Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
Ground does not shoot at naval at all.

well forts do!Plaid wrote:Ground does not shoot at naval at all.
Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
Ports, Coastal cities, Forts on the coast have coastal guns.
Re: Unit combat stats explanation ?
& it seems fort fire first . around 70% of the naval attack to fortress ,it will be 0:1. So what is the rule ?richardsd wrote:well forts do!Plaid wrote:Ground does not shoot at naval at all.
