beware Byrons innate ability to kill generals in combats... during home games, i make a point of not committing them to melee... lost to many too often to him... and he has an army designed by the hoof master...

I think messr harley is being too too modest here. fwiw i think the beauty of fog r is that any one of the 24 of us could be somewhere on the podium in 2nd or 3rd spot with the right draws and luck at the right times. yes - even the "unranked three" have a slight chance.

I agree with Hunter. (Did I actually say that?) Alasdair is being far too modest. His new Uber horsey army will be there or there about. Still the hombre to beat in my opinion.

Re: Britcon 2013
I agree John. As ever Alasdair will be the man to beat both on the table and in the competition. Alasdair's great strength is his speed of play which usually gets him a result and with the ability to drop a score, he can afford to haave a draw of even a defeat!!
I think he's a guaranteed Top 3 (I think last years Britcon and Warfare when he took a foot army are the only times I can remember him being out of the Top3!). I think Dave Allen is a strong probable as hie is both a consistent player and his army will surprise a few and be tough to put away!
Other than those two I think the challengers will be RBS, John, Hunter (if I say I'm a novice often enough people might believe me - not!), Simon C and as an outsider Dave Parrish or Mick Hood.
There are lots of late "shooty" armies who will be hoping to roll lots of 4's, 5's and 6's to stop the infantry of the TYW with terrain to cover the flanks.
Unfortunately I have to agree with Alasdair, that this is not the competition for the Samurai to prosper in (sorry Lynette), but at least my tactics will be simple - Banzai (or is that Kamikazi!)
Whatever it'll be a great weekend - looking forward to it!!

And just for fun, if last year had been to use best 5 scores then most of the changes would have been at the Top.

As Steve and I came 2nd last year and first this year, I kind of assumed my score would have gone up, even though my placing may not ?????nigelemsen wrote:i am assuming as,before devises i was 75th and managed to jump to 46thdonm2 wrote:Was the Devizes results included in this?spotteddog wrote:the latest rankings are now up on the bhgs site thanks to tim m. there is still time to offer celemcy to teh "unranked three". hunter.

If I am reading it right your ranking did go up by almost 5.5 points following Devizes, just that Kevin's went up faster.

Re: Britcon 2013
From my perspective (last place in 2012 and likely to be repeated), a likely list of those who will place top will be:
Dave Allen
Alasdair Harley
Jim Copeland
RBS
Hunter Hope
Outsiders??
Byron Emsen
David Redhead
Don Avis

Re: Britcon 2013
i could take humbug with my son always being picked as the outsider... how ever sensible
now:
is it my lack of skill
my army selection
or both
Don't worry, ill fight you hard for last place
be positive, plenty of time for beer ....
Count down in hours....
Just think how many £s worth of figs will be tranist on the roads tomorrow..

Re: Britcon 2013
I will obviously be producing my full list of predictions at around 6.30pm on Sunday but my top three are as follows:
1 Mr Harley is the form horse in the race and difficult to see past him unless his horses prove not to be thoroughbreds but one trick ponies.
2 The inscrutable Mr Avis. Just lay of the opium pipes though Don
3 This could be Hunter's year as he has a good solid shooty army copied from the rulesmeister Mr Bodley Scott. Can he, however, replicate the master's tactical skill? Sorry Hunter but your last minute efforts to further copy him by growing a small beard will not be sufficient on it's own.
