Crossing the Rhine bug?

Post by Shrike »

Even though I met the scenario objectives well ahead of time, the scenario didn't end and after all turns were done I only got victory instead of triumph. Any clues as to why this is happening?

Hm, just a wild guess, did you neutralize/turn white 10 flags? :)

Oh dear ... I wasn't supposed to occupy but keep them white? Argh

Hello Shrike, this scenario has rather tricky victory conditions, some info about it was posted in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=121&t=43659 Maybe the info in there will help you achieve a Triumph?

I'm in the middle of this one, so I'm curious too: is it enough to have neutralized ten flags by the last turn, no matter what else happens to them later (reoccupied by AI, occupied by me), or must they still be white at the end?

Since the awarded prestige and resulting next map don't make a difference, I'll reserve the replay for later. I've had a few victories instead of triumphs and I like the way the game doesn't completely choke the player off prestige-wise. Some may find it demeans a bit the field marshal difficulty level, but I'm OK with that. I'm losing units every now and then and having to guard the green replacements to reach a decent over-strength level again is challenge enough.

If I look at the map in the editor, it should work, even when the flag turns neutral only for a very short time. The act of the flag turning neutral seems to be enough, it doesn't have to stay neutral.

I'm not 100% sure, but this is how I believe it works: The flags you have to neutralize each have a zone number. These zones are 5 to 32, so more than needed to win. If the flag in one of these zones turns neutral, a 'tag' gets added through a script, which spawns a unit (off-map, you can't see it). When at least 10 of these units are spawned, a condition for a Triumph is met.

The game should tell you when you've turned enough flags neutral by displaying a message. I haven't gotten a Triumph on this map yet, so I can't confirm if it works, unfortunately.

And, I believe you can not neutralize the same flag multiple times.
